摘要： The present invention discloses an opposed substrate for use in a liquid crystal display element, for example. The opposed substrate is constructed by a transparent substrate, microlenses formed on the substrate, a bonding layer, and cover glass. An alignment film and transparent electrodes are formed on the cover glass. The microlenses and the bonding layer are formed by selected resins which have thermal resistance to high temperatures not lower than 150.degree. C., permit heating treatment for forming the alignment film, and satisfy the difference in the refractive indexes between the resins, .increment.n.gtoreq.0.1, so as to enable the microlenses to have a numerical aperture not lower than 0.1. It is thus possible to prevent the decomposition of resins and separation of the microlens in heat treatment and to provide a high-quality, highly reliable liquid crystal display element.

摘要： The position and orientation of a geometric figure are detected by sequentially producing the coordinates with respect to an orthogonal coordinate system of pixels which make up an image of the geometric figure, by singling out from these sequentially produced coordinates of these pixels the coordinates of certain characteristic pixels of these pixels which make up an image of the geometric figure, and by comparing these coordinates of these certain characteristic pixels with stored information. Preferably, the certain characteristic pixels are: that pixel, of those which have the least value of one coordinate, which has the least value of the other coordinate; that pixel, of those which have the greatest value of the one coordinate, which has the least value of the other coordinate; that pixel, of those which have the least value of the other coordinate, which has the least value of the one coordinate; and that pixel, of those which have the greatest value of the other coordinate, which has the least value of the one coordinate. A device is also disclosed for performing this method.

摘要： A plurality of modulating elements are provided on a substrate to modulate the intensity of input light in dependence upon an applied physical quantity. Intensity-modulated output optical signals from these plural modulating elements propagate in parallel along the substrate. These parallel optical signals are successively diffracted by a pulsed surface acoustic wave, and the diffracted light is then focused. Since parallel optical signals from a plurality of modulating elements can thus be converted into a serial optical signal, the signal can be transmitted by a single optical fiber.

摘要： An electromagnetic relay including an electromagnet block having a rod-shaped iron core, a coil wound around the rod-shaped iron core, and a spool interposed between the coil and iron core. A yoke having one end section extends to a section at a side of a magnet pole section of the iron core. An end section of the yoke is arranged so that the magnet pole section has a gap on a base side. A moving iron is pivotably supported by an elastic support of a hinge spring. The electromagnet block is magnetized wherein a section drawn in the moving iron is drawn to the magnet pole section and pivoted to drive a contact switching unit. The hinge spring includes an elastic contacting portion extending toward an opposite side to the elastic support. The moving iron is integrated with a card member that comes in contact with the elastic contacting portion.

摘要： A fuel injection device includes a cylinder that defines a pressure chamber at an end portion of a nozzle needle. A floating plate as a control member is placed in the cylinder. A cutout portion and multiple grooves are formed in the floating plate. The cutout portion and the grooves causes a gap between a large-diameter inner circumferential surface and an outer circumferential surface to communicate with the pressure chamber. The cutout portion and the grooves reduce a contact surface portion between the cylinder and the floating plate and divide the contact surface portion into multiple island portions. As a result, it is possible to reduce the contact surface portion.
