Abstract: An optical assembly for an autofocus imaging system for capturing at least one image of an object appearing in an imaging field of view (FOV) is provided. The optical assembly includes a front aperture along an optical axis and a front lens group along the optical axis that receives light from the object of interest. The position of the front lens group is adjustable to change a focal distance of the optical assembly. The optical assembly further includes an actuator physically coupled to the front lens group that adjusts the position of the front lens. A rear lens group is disposed along the optical axis to receive the light from the front lens group, and an imaging sensor is disposed at a back focal distance of the rear lens group, to detect the light.

Abstract: Methods and systems to focus an imager for machine vision applications are disclosed. A disclosed example machine vision method includes: capturing, via an imaging assembly, an image of an indicia appearing within a field of view (FOV) of the imaging assembly; recognizing, via a controller, the indicia as a focus adjustment trigger, the focus adjustment trigger operative to trigger an adjustment of at least one focus parameter associated with the imaging assembly; adjusting the at least one focus parameter based at least in part on the indicia; locking the at least one focus parameter such that the at least one focus parameter remains unaltered for a duration; and responsive to the locking of the at least one focus parameter, capturing, via the imaging assembly, at least one subsequent image of an object of interest.

Abstract: Machine vision devices with configurable illumination and aiming pattern generation are disclosed. Abstract: A method and apparatus for illuminating at least one object appearing in a field of view (FOV). An illumination system includes an illumination source configured to provide illumination to illuminate a target of the object. A collimating lens is configured to collimate the illumination and to provide the illumination to a fixed multiple lens array (MLA). The fixed multiple lens array provides the illumination to a movable MLA. The movable MLA is configured to provide the illumination to the target to illuminate the target. The position of the movable MLA may be adjusted to alter the illumination full field angle.

Abstract: Methods and devices for performing color imaging processing on the fly for barcode readers are disclosed herein. An example method includes color image processing in a barcode reader to identify one of raw image data or processed image data and further decoding indicia in the identified raw or processed image data. The method includes receiving a raw image data of an image of an object, performing image processing on the raw image data, analyzing the raw image data and the processed image data, and identifying which of the raw image data or processed image data to communicate to a decoder for further decoding. The decoder then identifies, in the identified raw image data or processed image data, indicia corresponding to an object, and decodes the identified indicia.
