Abstract: A lead collection system and method for reducing the incidence of equipment failures, equipment breakages, and/or safety hazards is provided. The lead collection system may include one or more augers that carry lead to a lead containment barrel. The auger(s) may be equipped with a specialized shear coupling designed such that the shear coupling breaks and stops auger movement before the auger may break. The auger(s) may also be equipped with one or more rotational sensors to detect actual shaft speed and compare it to the inputted speed, and cause a system error if a difference is detected. A lead containment barrel may also be provided, with an ultrasonic sensor for detecting lead fill in the barrel.

Abstract: A bullet trap is disclosed which is formed without intervening sidewalls to enable cross-shooting and the like with reduced risk or ricochet or damage to the bullet trap. Furthermore, the bullet trap can be configured in a variety of ways to eliminate the need for facing plates while providing a removable attachment mechanism, to enable repair on the trap, to reduce bullet adhesion to the trap and to provide improved containment of lead and improved access to the trap.

Abstract: The present invention provides a releasable clamp assembly for supporting one or more bullet deflecting plates, comprising: a first plate holder having a channel for receiving an outer lateral edge of a first deflecting plate; a second plate holder having a channel for receiving an outer lateral edge of a second deflecting plate; and a bridge comprising a bridge connecting the first plate holder and the second plate holder and one or more releasable clamp integral with the bridge, wherein the one or more releasable clamp is adapted to apply a clamping force in a direction substantially perpendicular to the first plate holder channel and second plate holder channel. The releasable clamp assembly, when disposed over the outer lateral edges of the first and second deflecting plate, positions the releasable clamp over the first and second deflecting plate to apply a clamping force to the one or more deflecting plate, thereby holding the releasable clamp assembly in secure engagement with the first and second deflecting plate.

The bullet deceleration material may include a plurality of layers of rubber material and metal for safely decelerating a bullet. Further, the layers of rubber material may have different densities and different types of metal may be used to decelerate a bullet. The clearing trap may also include vent holes for dissipation of the force generated from discharging a firearm in the housing and diverters which channel vented gasses away from a shooter.
