摘要： The present invention provides apparatus and methods for facilitating entry through a bodily opening comprising a spreader having a plurality of arms, each of the arms being formed of a resilient material and shaped so that the distal ends tend to be spaced apart from each other when the spreader is in an open position. At least one of the arms has an engaging member having a sharpness adapted to grasp tissue. When the spreader is radially deployed to the open position, the engaging member grasps tissue adjacent the bodily opening and urges the tissue away from the opening to facilitate visualization of the opening and/or access into the opening. A catheter or other device may subsequently be inserted between one or more arms of the spreader and through the bodily opening while the spreader holds the tissue in a spread position.

摘要： An endoscopic wire guide apparatus for insertion through an insertion tube of an endoscope having an accessory port, the endoscope being configured for advancement into a patient. The apparatus comprises a wire guide disposed through the insertion tube for delivery into the patient. The wire guide has a distal portion and a proximal portion. The distal portion has a first diameter and the proximal portion has a second diameter less than the first diameter. The first diameter is more rigid than the second diameter. The second diameter is configured to allow the proximal portion to collapse when proximally extending through the accessory port of the endoscope and the distal portion extends at least partially beyond the distal end of the insertion tube.

摘要： A stapler for delivering a staple formed from a shape memory material is disclosed. The staple includes a first tine and a second tine connected by a bridge. The staple may be disposed within the stapler in an open position with the first tine distal of the second tine. The stapler is configured to sequentially deliver the first tine and the second tine, respectively, to opposing body tissues. The stapler includes an elongate shaft (e.g., a catheter) having a working lumen and a control mechanism for delivering the staple. A drive cable extends along the working lumen of the elongate shaft. Upon warming up to a temperature at or above a transformation temperature of the shape memory material, the staple may assume a closed position, thus drawing together opposing body tissues and closing an incision.
