Abstract:
A current measurement system includes a magnetic core having an inside area through which a conductor carrying current to be measured extends. A measurement winding is wound on the magnetic core. A voltage source couples to the measurement winding to generate current through the measurement winding. A gap of low permeability material is disposed in the magnetic core. A sensing device is positioned in the gap, wherein the sensing device generates a control signal having one of a first state and a second state based on a strength and a direction of a magnetic field in the gap.
Abstract:
A vehicle instrument cluster for indicating a value of a vehicle parameter. The vehicle instrument cluster includes a display member formed of a transparent material and display segments integrally formed within the display member. The display segments are configured to diffuse light and the display segments form at least a portion of indicia associated with the vehicle parameter. A first illumination system has a light source and a motor connected to an optical member. The optical member is movable in response to a change in the value of the vehicle parameter. The optical member selectively directs the light from the light source to within the display member to illuminate at least a portion of the display segments that form the indicia to indicate the value of the vehicle parameter.
Abstract:
A vehicle display having a housing, a pointer that is rotatably coupled to the housing, a first appliqué that is coupled to the housing, a second appliqué coupled to the housing, a first graphics set coupled to a surface of the first appliqué and a second graphics set coupled to a surface of the second appliqué. The second is spaced apart rearwardly from the first appliqué. The first and second graphics sets cooperate to at least partially form a display design that is adapted to be viewed from a front side of the vehicle display.
Abstract:
The various embodiments of the present invention generally include a display device having a surface with indicia formed thereon. The indicia are indicative of at least one vehicle parameter. The display device includes a light guide connected to the surface and a light-reflecting portion formed in the light guide. The light-reflecting portion is disposed at least partially over one of the indicia. The light guide collects light, directs the light toward the light-reflecting portion and illuminates at least one of the indicia. The light guide and the light reflecting portion provide an enhanced or decorative effect for one or more of the indicia.
Abstract:
A display with a housing and an indicium that may be selectively back-illuminated. The housing includes a cavity having a first portion and a second portion. A first light source that provides light of one color and a first intensity is disposed in the first portion. A second light source that provides light of another color and a second, higher intensity is disposed in the second portion. The second portion is disposed in-line and encompasses an area that includes the indicium. Operation of only the first light source back-illuminates the indicium with a first color. Operation of the second light source back-illuminates the indicium with a second color regardless of whether the first light source is illuminated or not. A member may be disposed between the first and second portions to aid in controlling the brightness and uniformity with which the indicium is illuminated by the first light source.
Abstract:
A bussed electrical center (BEC) has a lateral appendage for a positive battery terminal to be used for jump starting purposes. A cover for the terminal is hingedly attached to the lateral appendage of the BEC by way of a relatively rotatable axle and bearing combination as well as facially abutting complemental locking surfaces each having alternatively raised and unraised sectors which interfit in each of two locking positions 180 degrees apart so that the cover can be locked fully open or fully closed.
Abstract:
A method for determining a compass heading in a manner that reduces the influence of magnetic noise. The methodology can evaluate changes between various parameters, such as a prior magnetic field parameter and a current magnetic field parameter and/or a prior compass heading parameter and a current compass heading to select an algorithm for use in calculating a new compass heading.
Abstract:
A one-piece retainer has a base with an integral band clip and a fastener for securing an electrical cable or wire harness to a vehicle component, as well as a pair of arms for supporting another cable or a hose on the component. The base has a cradle extending along a length of the base. The arms extend from each end of the base outward from the cradle. The arms have curved sections creating interior spaces aligned with and spaced away from the cradle. Ledges extend from the base opposite each arm, forming an opening to each interior space between the ledge and a tapered edge of the curved section of the arm. The openings face in opposite directions. A cable or hose is twisted or turned relative to the base such that part of the cable or hose can be rested on the ledges in alignment with each opening. Then the cable or hose is twisted or turned back and inserted or snapped into the interior of each arm to seat along the cradle. The arms resiliently clasp the cable or hose in the cradle.
Abstract:
An over-current fuse of unitary, disposable construction is used to protect battery and alternator cables from over-current conditions. The fuse comprises a cylindrical body of high-temperature plastic having an axial through-bore and recessed annular seat surfaces formed into the opposite surfaces. Metal rings are mounted on the annular seat surfaces and are electrically interconnected by a fuse element.
Abstract:
A wire shield has a first tubular section for attachment to a fixed component. A second tubular section is integrally joined to the first tubular section along a common longitudinal axis. The second tubular section has an outer diameter with an outer surface. A small key protrudes from the outer surface. A third tubular section has an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the second tubular section. An opening having spaced borders extends through the third tubular section. The third tubular section is fit around, and is able to slide upon, the second tubular section with the key positioned in the opening. A mounting device and a support for an electrical connector extending from the third tubular section are adjustable in longitudinal and angular position relative to the first and second tubular sections within limits defined by contact of the key with the borders of the opening.
