摘要: A fly fishing reel comprises a large diameter spool having a broad width and a shallow line storage depth. The reel may have an arm-like body and a unique mounting member which, when attached to a fishing rod, positions the perimeter of the spool across a longitudinal axis of the rod. In an additional aspect, a drag mechanism is provided in a center hub of the spool. The drag mechanism is a unidirectional dual cone drag mechanism. The drag mechanism comprises a pair of opposing frictional conical race members, an inner race member inserted into an outer race member. The race members are biased into contact to create drag on the rotating spool. A roller clutch is utilized to produce a unidirectional drag mechanism. The roller clutch is configured to lock thereby causing relative rotation of the race members creating frictional drag only when the spool is rotated in the "reeling out direction."

摘要: In a fishing reel, a rotary body (a drive gear) has an accommodating section at the center which includes a round hole and a recess. The accommodating section accommodates the thick annular liner of a brake member in a brake device, and the detection brake body. The liner is made of felt, cork, leather or fiber-reinforced synthetic resin. The detection brake body is in the form of a disk, and is mounted on a shaft, which is a handle shaft. The bottom surface of the recess of the rotary body is formed into the uneven portion. The detection brake body has a through-hole, to which one end portion of the detecting piece is secured, for instance, by spot welding, and the other end portion of the detecting piece is extended so as to be engageable with the uneven portion. When the liner is worn out to a predetermined value, the detecting piece is contacted and engaged with the uneven portion to generate a sound.

摘要: A tension responsive fishing apparatus is provided which includes a pole member having an interior. The interior of the pole member is filled with a variable viscosity fluid, such as, electrical rheological fluid, magnetic-powder dispersed fluid, or the like. A controlled potential may be applied to the variable viscosity fluid which causes the variable viscosity fluid to vary in viscosity dependent on the amount of potential applied thereacross. In other words, depending on the amount of potential applied to the variable viscosity fluid disposed in the interior of the pole member, the flexure of the pole member may be selectively varied from extremes of high flexibility to high rigidity. An improved reel member is provided which varies a resistance applied to a bobbin member which is effected to control the release of fishing line. The varying resistance is controlled in response to input signals inputted dependent on tension sensed in the fishing line and/or a value selected by a user. The varying resistance means may be comprised of a friction plate disposed between two electrodes and surrounded by a variable viscosity fluid. The resistance varied in response to a controlled potential applied through the electrodes. In accordance with the present invention, a tension responsive fishing apparatus is provided for automatically setting a hook when a fish strikes. Tension is sensed in the fishing line during a fish strike and triggers a hook setting operation. The fishing line is conveyed in a direction effective to set the hook.

摘要: A drag mechanism for a fishing reel, comprising a rotor for applying a tension to a fishing line, rotatably supported on a support shaft of a reel body. A support cylinder is slidably fitted on and supported by the support shaft and braking plates are mounted around the support cylinder for frictionally connecting the rotor to the support cylinder. The braking plates are piled on the support cylinder in a predetermined number and prevented from falling off of the support cylinder. A manipulator for depressing the braking plates is mounted on the support cylinder, and is threadingly engaged with the support shaft. The support cylinder and braking plates comprise an integral unit removably attached onto the support shaft.

摘要: A dragging device in a fishing reel of the fixed-spool type having a housing accommodating a spool shaft rotatably mounted therein. A line spool is non-rotatably mounted on the end of the spool shaft projecting from the reel housing. The reel also comprises a transmission for transforming the movement of a handle into a movement of rotation of a member for winding up the fishing line on the line spool. The dragging device consists of a bait drag which is adapted, when fishing with a live bait, to adjustably brake the line spool for conforming to the size of the live bait. The dragging device is arranged for directly or indirectly acting on the spool shaft and for being engaged or disengaged by an outer slide and drag control disposed on the reel housing.

摘要: A brake lining for a fishing reel includes a metal or synthetic resin flexible, heat-resistant base layer and a woven fabric layer formed of heat resistant fibre and bonded onto at least one side of the base layer. The brake lining is applied to a friction member, such as a drag disc, forming part of a drag mechanism of the fishing reel so that the brake lining is brought into full-face contact rather than local contact with the friction member. The synthetic resin material of the base layer does not impregnate the woven fabric layer. As a result, none of the synthetic resin material is exposed on the outside surface of the woven fabric layer.

摘要: In a fishing reel, the drag stack includes the conventional star wheel and pressure plate that squeeze one or more friction member against the side of a rotatable member, such as the main gear to cause it to rotate with the pressure plate. However, instead of a washer of friction material, the friction member comprises small friction pads mounted on a carrier ring so as to be positioned symmetrically around the axis thereof, and to be engaged by the pressure plate. This leaves substantial areas of the pressure plate exposed for dissipation of heat.
