摘要: The bioabsorbable polymers and compositions of the present invention may be formed into medical devices such as stents that can be crimped onto a catheter system for delivery into a blood vessel. The properties of the bioabsorbable polymers allow for both crimping and expansion of the stent. The crystal properties of the bioabsorbable polymers may change during crimping and/or expansion allowing for improved mechanical properties such as tensile strength and slower degradation kinetics. Typically, bioabsorbable polymers comprise aliphatic polyesters based on lactide backbone such as poly L-lactide, poly D-lactide, poly D,L-lactide, mesolactide, glycolides, lactones, as homopolymers or copolymers, as well as formed in copolymer moieties with co-monomers such as, trimethylene carbonate (TMC) or ε-caprolactone (ECL).

摘要: A bandage including a superabsorbent pad covered by a porous cover pad placed on a thin, flexible hydrocolloid adhesive layer leaving a portion of the adhesive layer around the pads as an adhesive border is disclosed. One side of the adhesive layer is laminated to a polymeric backing or non-woven fabric layer and a protective cover layer is applied over the pads and border portion. The protective cover layer may be silicone coated release paper and the bandage may be subjected to a vacuum thus forming the adhesive layer to the pads resulting in the border portion being substantially coplanar with the exposed surface of the cover pad overlaying the superabsorbent pad.

摘要: Sheet material for making a water closet disposable article, such as a bag for body waste products, is unaffected by contact with water of neutral pH, but is degraded on contact with an alkali added to the pan of the water closet. The material may have a central layer of polyvinyl alcohol, an inner layer made up of at least two coatings of a blend of polyvinylidene chloride acrylonitrile copolymer with carboxylated acrylic copolymer, and an outer layer of at least two coatings of carboxylated acrylic acid. A similar sheet can be used to back an absorbent layer of a sanitary article, such as a diaper. In use, an alkaline substance containing triethanolamine and a surfactant, such as sodium dioctyl sulphosuccinate, is added in liquid form to the water closet pan prior to dropping in the bag or other article, so as to raise the pH of the water to about 10.
