    摘要： A skin barrier composition is provided which is moisture-absorbing while being resistant to urine and other body fluids and substantially non-swelling. It is composed of a continuous elastomer phase containing particulate hydrocolloid together with fumed silica. The hydrocolloid provides the water-absorbency while the fumed silica controls the swelling. The composition is adapted for ostomy and wound drainage applications, and has especially desirable properties for urostomy and ileostomy use where corrosive drainage is encountered.

    摘要： The invention pertains to a process for the manufacture cola medical implant, said process comprising: reacting a mixture of non functional, monofunctional, and bifunctional perfluoropolyethers comprising hydroxyl terminal groups, wherein the average functionality is of at least 1.97 [mixture (M)] with suitable reactants for producing a thermoplastic elastomer; moulding the so-obtained thermoplastic elastomer for yielding at least a part of the medical implant. It has been surprisingly found that by using a mixture of perfluoropolyethers having high functionality, it is advantageously possible to manufacture, by moulding thermoplastic elastomers therefrom, medical implants which exhibit improved biocompatibility and which are submitted to reduced chemicals extraction by biological fluids.

The sheet includes a water-degradable substrate and a water-resistant layer, along with an enzyme that acts to decompose the substrate. The water-degradable sheet can reconcile water resistance with water solubility. The water-degradable sheet dissolves in water after immersion in water. The water-resistant layer can also contain a biodegradable substrate. An excretion receptacle having a pouch that includes the water-degradable sheet is also provided.

    摘要： A pressure sensitive adhesive composition suitable for medical purposes comprising a rubbery elastomeric base and water soluble or water swellable hydrocolloids, where the adhesive composition includes a substantially homogeneous mixture of 15-60% of one or more rubbery components, 10-60% of a mixture of hydrocolloids that includes a cellulose derivative, amidated pectin, and potato starch, 0-50% of one or more tackifier resins, 0-15% cohesive strengthening agent, 0-10% of a plasticizer and 0-5% pigment. The adhesive shows at least as good properties as state of the art adhesives comprising gelatine with respect to resistance to biological fluids, adhesion to skin, and coherence.
