Abstract:
Provided is a vehicle seat which is positionable between a use and not-it-use position convenient for increased storage space and access to rearward areas of the vehicle. The vehicle seat includes a seat part and a backrest. The seat part is pivotably coupled to the vehicle floor at one end so that that the seat part may be moved frontward with respect to the vehicle. A transmission link is provided, coupled to the backrest and the seat part so that the backrest pivots into the not-in-use position as the seat part is moved into its not-in-use position.
Abstract:
A seat assembly for a bus includes a seat bottom and a seat back pivotally coupled to the seat bottom. An energy absorbing link extends from the seat bottom to the seat back for controlling pivoting of the seat back relative to the seat bottom. The energy absorbing link has a first portion connected to the seat bottom, a second portion connected to the seat back, and a deformable portion disposed therebetween. The deformable portion is deformed as the seat back pivots relative to the seat bottom to absorb energy. First and second members are fixed relative to the energy absorbing link. The first and second members are spaced from each other when the seat back is in an upright position and abut each other when the seat back rotates to a rearward position to limit the deformation of the deformable portion and prevent pivoting beyond the rearward position.
Abstract:
A vehicle seat includes a seat bottom and a seat back. The seat bottom includes a forward section and a rear section. The seat back is pivotably mounted about the seat bottom. The seat back is positionable in a reclined position and a folded position. The pivotable link system characteristically positions the forward section of the seat bottom in a lowered position and one or more raised positions.
Abstract:
A vehicle seat includes a cushion carrier for a bottom seat cushion, the carrier having a rigid frame, a molded foam bottom seat cushion supported by the frame, in which at least a portion of the frame is exposed from the bottom seat cushion, the exposed portion having an outwardly facing surface and an inwardly facing surface, the inwardly facing surface facing an interior space of the frame that is unoccupied by the seat cushion.
Abstract:
There is disclosed a passenger's weight measurement device for a vehicle seat, capable of suppressing generation of an initial load. The passenger's weight measurement device includes an upper rail disposed to be movable back and forth on a lower rail fixed to a vehicle floor; a load sensor fixed on the upper rail; and a frame disposed on the load sensor and below a vehicle seat, wherein a rod extends from the load sensor to penetrate the frame and to be inserted into an insertion hole formed in a center of a leaf spring, the leaf spring is curved into an angle shape to separate the center of the leaf spring from the frame, a nut is engaged with the rod on the leaf spring, and both hems of the leaf spring abut on the frame in a state that the leaf spring is fastened by the nut.
Abstract:
A seat assembly for a vehicle includes a lower seat portion and a seatback portion. The seatback portion is selectively movable to vary the reclination angle of the seatback portion. The seat assembly is configured so that a first part of the lower seat portion rises relative to a second part of the lower seat portion so that the lower seat portion acts as an occupant restraint when a predetermined condition exists. Exemplary predetermined conditions include the reclination angle changing, the reclination angle exceeding a predetermined amount, and conditions indicative of an elevated risk of vehicle impact.
Abstract:
An inflatable safety arrangement for a safety device in a motor vehicle, especially an in-seat device to prevent “submarining” comprises an inflatable unit formed of at least one pre-formed plastically deformable element which initially defines an inwardly directed recess partially filling a void defined within the interior of the inflatable unit. On actuation of a gas generator the inwardly directed protrusion becomes an outwardly directed protrusion. The inwardly directed protrusion may have two substantially planar walls, one of which carries an outwardly extending projection.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a motor vehicle seat (1) characterised in that it comprises in its seating portion (3) a part (6) controlling the deceleration of the pelvis of the passenger seated thereon, particularly during a frontal impact, consisting of an element in aluminium foam. The invention is applicable to motor vehicle seats.
Abstract:
An inflatable safety arrangement for a safety device in a motor vehicle, especially an in-seat device to prevent nullsubmariningnull comprises an inflatable unit formed of at least one pre-formed plastically deformable element which initially defines an inwardly directed recess partially filling a void defined within the interior of the inflatable unit. On actuation of a gas generator the inwardly directed protrusion becomes an outwardly directed protrusion. The inwardly directed protrusion may have two substantially planar walls, one of which carries an outwardly extending projection.
Abstract:
A vehicle safety seat system for protecting an occupant of the vehicle safety seat from injury. The safety seat system includes a ramped metal seat bottom having a ramp angle that prevents sub-marining of an occupant during a frontal impact. A first foam layer is disposed immediately over the ramped metal seat bottom and supported by the ramped metal seat bottom. The first foam layer has a rate sensitive compression characteristic. A second foam layer is disposed over the first foam layer. The second foam layer imparts comfort to the occupant during operation of the vehicle.
