Abstract: Automatic transmission having an input shaft and output shaft which may be disposed on the same side or opposite sides of the transmission. A planetary gearset has its ring gear, two coaxial sun gears and a planetary gear carrier respectively integral with the output shaft, a brake mechanism and a clutch mechanism the selective actuation of which determines the engagement of the suitable transmission ratio.
