Abstract:
An airbag device installed into an instrument panel including a lid portion configured to be torn and a lid-side peripheral wall portion provided to stand on an outer periphery of the lid portion. The airbag device includes: an inflator; an airbag so as to be inflated and deployed in a bag shape by the gas introduced from the inflator; and an outer bag formed of a sheet-like member to be sewn into a three-dimensional shape having an outer-bag-side bottom and an outer-bag-side peripheral wall portion provided on an outer periphery of the outer-bag-side bottom, the outer-bag-side bottom being secured to the inflator, the outer-bag-side peripheral wall portion surrounding the folded airbag and being disposed so as to be sandwiched between the airbag being inflated and deployed and the lid-side peripheral wall portion.
Abstract:
An air bag device includes an inflator configured to supply a gas, and an air bag folded into an elongated shape and configured to inflate and deploy upon supply of the gas from the inflator. An elongated holder such as an adhesive tape is wound around the air bag. A part of the elongated holder extends outwardly from an outer periphery of the air bag and is configured as a mark for twist identification.
Abstract:
An airbag configuration is provided for a vehicle seat having an airbag that can be expanded by a gas upon the activation. The airbag configuration is covered by a cover that covers the airbag relative to the surroundings in the inactivated state, the cover having a target weakened area that is implemented to open the cover upon the activation and permit the airbag to expand into the surroundings, and having a connector, the connector connected to the cover in the target weakened area, the connector being fastened in a fastening area to the airbag.
Abstract:
Both ends of a sack-like body are fixed to fastening sections provided in a pillar-like frame in the rearmost part of a vehicle, and the sack-like body is housed along an air bag housing space in a portion of a roof. The sack-like body is composed of a fabric-made article that shrinks longitudinally when extended widthwise. At the time of a rear-end collision, the air bag is inflated by gas supplied from an inflator, and turns into an inflated body, starting from a housed state in the air bag housing space, in such a way that both ends of the air bag are supported by the fastening sections, the inflated shape of the inflated body being restricted by the sack-like body. This inflated body constrains the head sections of vehicle cabin occupants who move rearward due to the rear-end collision.
Abstract:
A gas bag arrangement for a vehicle occupant restraint system of a motor vehicle. The gas bag arrangement comprising a gas bag package which includes a folded gas bag and a wrapping which at least partly surrounds the folded gas bag, at least one connecting strap for connecting the gas bag to a holding structure of the motor vehicle, wherein the connecting strap is attached to a fastening portion of the gas bag and a deflection device arranged at the wrapping or formed by the wrapping, at which the connecting strap—relative to the condition of the gas bag arrangement as mounted in the vehicle—is deflected in direction of the holding structure. A section of the connecting strap coming from the fastening portion extends up to the deflection device away from the holding structure and at the deflection device again is deflected towards the holding structure.
Abstract:
A vehicle seat air bag assembly (17) having an air bag module (18) includes an air bag guide (44) that is foldable from a flexible sheet (46) to provide both left and right hand embodiments with connection of distal ends of the flexible sheet to each other after the folding fabrication. The air bag guide (44) guides an air bag (40) of the air bag module (18) during inflation and movement to and through a trim cover deployment seam (34).
Abstract:
The invention relates to an airbag system comprising an airbag module, which has an opening mechanism for the airbag tear seam of a seat cover for the airbag accommodated underneath the cover in a non-visible manner, wherein the opening mechanism is configured such that the deploying force of the airbag tears a hole or holes into the tear seam, which bring(s) about a slight opening of the seam according to the physics of a ‘run,’ wherein a strip, or plurality of strips, or strip ends sewn into the airbag tear seam of the seat cover in more than one locations is/are torn from the seam driven by the deploying force of the airbag. The invention further relates to a vehicle seat comprising such an airbag system, and to a deployment method for such an airbag system.
Abstract:
In at least one embodiment of the present invention, an inflatable curtain for a motor vehicle is provided. The inflatable curtain is formed of layers of fabric and is deployable from a rolled state forming a roll to an inflated state. The air-bag comprises part of the air-bag that forms the upper-most edge of the air-bag when the air-bag is in the inflated state extending downwardly from the roll to lie proximate a side part of the motor vehicle on which the air-bag is to be mounted. At least a portion of the roll is positioned above the upper-most edge in the rolled state and is driven downward below the upper-most edge during deployment to the inflated state. The air-bag further provides a gas flow duct. When the air-bag is in the rolled state, the gas flow duct is provided at the top part of the roll.
Abstract:
A vehicle seat assembly according to the present disclosure includes an air bag module having an air bag and an inflator associated with the air bag. The air bag includes a main body configured to be inflated by the inflator, and an extension formed integrally with the main body and at least partially covering the main body. The seat assembly further includes a seat pad disposed outside the air bag module, and a trim cover positioned over the seat pad. Upon inflation of the main body of the air bag, at least a portion of the extension is configured to move forwardly such that the at least a portion of the extension extends between the seat pad and the main body, or between the trim cover and the main body.
Abstract:
An airbag cover for receiving an airbag compressed into an airbag package for an airbag module of a motor vehicle is provided. The airbag cover comprising one or more precut sections of a flexible material connecting sites, by way of which regions of the at least one precut material section are connected to each other such that the at least one precut section forms a flexible cover that at least partially receives the airbag package. The airbag cover forms an outer cover of the airbag module which is at least in sections visible for a vehicle occupant when installed into a vehicle as intended, wherein the flexible airbag cover forms a most outer casing of the airbag package. At least some of the connecting sites are configured in a disconnectable such that the corresponding connecting sites are disconnected upon the inflation and deployment of the airbag as intended in the event of a crash.
