    摘要: An inventory storage and retrieval system and method are provided for a shipping or storage facility. In an embodiment, the system includes: (a) a mobile computer and radio on a load-handing vehicle; (b) sensors on the vehicle to determine the ground location and orientation of the vehicle; (c) encoders that determine the position of a lifting mechanism relative to a chassis of the vehicle; and (d) a base computer and radio that communicates with the vehicle. The system maintains an inventory database of items and their respective storage locations in three dimensions as a result of the loading activity of the vehicle. The data can be used to guide the vehicle for ground movement generally to a storage location, appropriately orient the vehicle, and then to move the lifting mechanism of the vehicle to deposit or retrieve the item at a particular storage location.

    摘要: The invention relates to an apparatus and method for the transportation and delivery of a portable storage unit. The apparatus includes a frame with selectively controllable dimensions to lift and lower the portable storage unit. A separate power source links with the frame in order to provide a means to actuate the frame's dimensions. The independent power source is also self-propelled and is operable to push, pull, or otherwise relocate the frame across a surface. The frame storage unit, and/or power unit are loaded onto a road vehicle in order to transport them between various work or storage sites. The frame, in one preferred embodiment, includes hydraulic cylinders that work to change the dimensions of the frame, and the hydraulics are activated and controlled via a hydraulic connection with the mechanized power unit.

An RF-ID reader/writer (wireless communication device) is provided in a container crane, on a beam of a spreader holding the container, facing a lengthwise end face of the container. An RF-ID tag (wireless tag) that stores container information is installed on a lengthwise end part of the container. The construction is such that the RF-ID tag reader/writer performs wireless communication with the RF-ID tag when the spreader is located on the transporting route of the container. The container information includes output of sensors provided on the container that detect security information of the container.

    摘要: A hydraulic system for actuating opposed arms of a grappler for a gantry crane dampens swaying motion of the arms. Within a conduit which carries pressurized fluid to and/or from actuators to pivot the arms, a dampener includes a restrictor having an orifice to restrict the flow in at least one direction. Each of the dampeners can include a respective check valve to permit free flow through one direction of the conduit and to direct reverse flow through the orifice. In a specific embodiment, a load is received between opposed arms of the grappler to seat upon shoes which extend inwardly from the arms. To urge the shoes to remain in secure lifting contact under the load, flow is restricted when the swaying load moves the arm outwardly, permit free motion of the arm when the swaying motion pulls the arm inwardly.

    摘要: An apparatus for lifting truck trailers and cargo containers is provided and includes a plurality of latch arm assemblies. A side fitting connection device is secured at four predetermined locations on external upper side locations of a trailer or a container. Each interlocking latch arm assembly includes a complementary shaped projection member adaptable to engage with and be secured to each side fitting device. The side fitting connection device and latch arm assembly, when connected and engaged together, permit top side lifting of trailers and containers for intermodal movement thereof. The external upper side locations of the side fitting device permit full, complete and more profitable usage of the internal space or volume of truck trailers or cargo containers.
