    摘要: A chelating composition suitable for low-temperature use or storage is disclosed. The chelating compositions include 20 to 70 wt. percent of a polar solvent and 30 to 80 wt. percent of a first component of the formula: wherein R is a hydroxyalkyl group and each R′ is individually selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, unsubstituted or inertly substituted alkyl groups, carbonyl-containing alkyl groups, carboxylate-containing alkyl groups, hydroxyalkyl groups and alkoxy groups; R″ is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, unsubstituted or inertly substituted alkyl groups; carbonyl-substituted alkyl groups, carboxylate-containing alkyl groups, hydroxyalkyl groups and alkoxy groups; M1 and M2 are alkali metal ions, wherein the M1 has a higher atomic weight than M2; wherein x+y=n and the mole fraction of M1 is greater than 0.70 to 1. Methods of suppressing crystallization and methods of cleaning surfaces employing the compositions described herein are also disclosed.

    摘要: Materials and methods are provided whereby polymers with least 0.5 mole % of the pendant group or end group containing —Si(OR″)3 are used to control aluminosilicate scaling in an industrial process having an alkaline process stream such as a pulping mill process stream or a high level nuclear waste processing plant. When materials of the present invention are added to the alkaline process stream, they reduce and even completely prevent formation of aluminosilicate scale on equipment surfaces such as evaporator walls and heating surfaces. The present materials are effective at treatment concentrations that make them economically practical.

    摘要: A method is disclosed to inhibit scale formation in aqueous systems whereby a threshold amount of a scale inhibiting agent, represented by an aminoacid alkylphosphonic acid, is added to the aqueous system. The aminoacid moiety can be represented by α-species or by species having, at least, two or more carbon atoms between the carboxylic moiety and the amine group. These aminoacid based inhibitors exhibit unusually superior performance and system acceptability compared to leading state-of-the-art inhibitors.

    摘要: An improved scale conditioning composition and method is disclosed that results in improved dissolution and disruption of tube scale, hardened sludge and other deposits composed primarily of highly densified magnetite such as those found in heat exchange vessels, particularly steam generators. After treatment with the advanced scale conditioning composition, these magnetite rich deposits are more easily removed using known and commercially available high pressure hydro-mechanical cleaning techniques. The present invention further provides effective cleaning in a short period of time and at relatively low temperatures, while reducing the amount of waste produced and reducing the resulting corrosion of carbon and low alloy steel components within the steam generator during the cleaning process.

    摘要: The present invention relates to subterranean drilling operations, and more particularly, to drilling fluids that may be used to drill a well bore in a subterranean formation that may demonstrate improved shale inhibition and methods of using such drilling fluids in subterranean formations. One embodiment of the methods of the present invention provides a method of drilling a well bore in a subterranean formation comprising providing a drilling fluid comprising an aqueous-based fluid and a shale inhibiting component comprising a nanoparticle source; and placing the drilling fluid in the well bore in the subterranean formation. Another embodiment of the present invention provides a method of flocculation comprising providing a fluid comprising suspended particles, and adding a shale inhibiting component comprising a nanoparticle source to the fluid comprising suspended particles to form flocculated particles.
