摘要: A roadway reflector is both durable and easily embedded into an opening in a roadway. The roadway reflector in one presently preferred embodiment is preferably circular or disk shaped so it can be inserted into a preformed circular hole in the roadway. A reflector includes two primary components, one of which is an upper member which can be easily coupled to the base member by a plurality of mating tabs and notches in the respective components. An expansion ring is inserted into the base member to expand the base member into a friction fit with the opening in the roadway. A resilient membrane or web is included in the base member and surrounds the upper reflective member so that as a snow plow blade, vehicle tire or the like passes over the reflector, the upper member is depressed downwardly into a cavity in the base member. After the item passes the reflector, the resilient membrane flexes similar to a hinge to thereby rebound the upper member upwardly to its normal position which projects upwardly from the surface of the road.

摘要: A depressible pavement marker is provided and includes a base receptacle, a piston assembly with a reflector and a resilient, compressible, water impervious mass. The base receptacle is mounted in the pavement with a portion of the piston assembly protruding above the pavement so that the reflector can be seen. The piston assembly and base are of a piston-in-cylinder arrangement with the piston assembly depressible into the base. The mass fills substantially the entire cavity formed between the inner surfaces of the piston assembly and the base. In another embodiment a self illuminating marker is provided and includes a solar cell, rechargeable battery, light source and sensor. The solar cell recharges the battery during daylight hours. The sensor energizes and de-energized the light source in response to external indications. A further embodiment is also provided which includes a locational traffic marker having a transmitter in the piston assembly for sending a locational signal to a remote receiver such as for example a suitably equipped emergency vehicle.

摘要: A depressible roadway marker has an outer metal housing within which an elastomeric core is held. The core holds a retroreflective lens element above the level of the roadway which depresses into the metal housing when run over by a vehicle tire. The core includes a wiping element to scrub the lens element each time the core is depressed. The core includes structure to absorb the forces encountered during depression to reduce fatigue damage to the core.

摘要: The invention deals with a road marking tape which has retroreflective elements and protruding anti-skid elements, and which means is provided for preventing damaging of the retroreflective elements by snow plowing means. The preventing means is designed in accordance with the present invention in a special manner as a compressible element which is composed of a compressible material so that in response to impact of the protruding elements of the tape by the snow plowing means the compressible material of the compressible element compresses and the original thickness of the compressible material reduces to a predetermined thickness which is selected so that the protruding element sink into the groove by the depth at least equal to the height of the protruding elements.

摘要: A traffic delineator is capable of being depressed so that its upstanding light reflective surface is depressed into a plane coincident with, or subterranean with that of the surrounding pavement, when the delineator is located in a highway, or on any other over travelling vehicle surface. The depression of the light reflective surface of the retractable delineator is activated either by horizontal or vertical thrust. Specifically when a combination of both is experienced as in the case of the movement of vehicular traffic over the delineator or of grading instruments or equipment such as snow ploughs and the like which are used for cleaning the surface of the travelled highway during winter conditions. After the travelling vehicle has passed, the light reflecting surface, as a result of biasing action within the delineator, relocates the light reflective surface again into an elevation above the surface of the road.
