    摘要: Fire alarm and intrusion alarm conductors are wired from a plurality of dwellings to a nearby data transmitter circuit which is linked by a single pair of conductors to a remote data receiver circuit. The alarm conductors are sequentially scanned in the data transmitter circuit by a binary counter which sequentially enables or opens gates that are coupled to the alarm conductors. When an alarm condition is detected on one of the alarm conductors, the scanning counter is stopped and the counter number is converted from parallel form to serial form. The serial number is transmitted from the data transmitter circuit to the data receiver circuit. The least significant bit of the number signifies whether the alarm is a fire or an intrusion. The remaining bits signify the location. In the receiver circuit, the received data is converted back to parallel form and is printed out on a printer. The transmitted data includes a first bit which is always a binary 1 and a last bit which is always a binary zero. The first bit starts the serial to parallel converter in the receiver circuit and the last bit insures that the output of the parallel to serial converter in the transmitter circuit is left in the low state after the transmission is completed. The data is preferably transmitted from the transmitter circuit to the receiver circuit by frequency shift keying. The data is clocked out of the parallel to serial converter and into the serial to parallel converter by clock pulses which are derived by dividing down the frequency of the frequency shift keying carrier.

    摘要: An event sequence detector is disclosed comprising a plurality of input units, each associated with a row of bistable elements arranged in an array of rows and columns. The detector also includes a shift register which is responsive to clock pulses from any of the units to sequentially provide enabling signals on its output lines each of which is connected to the bistable elements in a corresponding column. When an event-indicating signal is received by an input unit it provides a clock pulse to the shift register to provide the enabling signal on one of its output lines. The input unit also enables all its bistable elements so that the particular element in the column supplied with the enabling signal from the register is driven to an eventindicating state.

Each scanpoint is coupled to a remote contact to be monitored and includes a voltage divider and a diode which is reverse biased when the remote contact is open and which acts as a shunt when the remote contact is closed.

    摘要: A wired data communications network for use in a building for the detection of fire or intrusion, the network including a control unit connected by cable to a series of uniquely addressable transducers for the transmission and reception of data in a polling signal. Each transducer has a memory for control data and for its own unique address and responds to a predetermined start voltage pulse in the polling signal to clear its memory and then responds to control data and address data in the polling signal to store the control data when the address matches its own address and transmit data to the control unit representative of its own status. At least one of the transducers determines whether the control data is extended data and, if so, stores the extended control data and the further control data, and performs the said transmission of data to the control unit and any other process dictated by the extended control data.

    摘要: A monitoring system for a protection loop that has a plurality of switches in series utilizes modules with inexpensive diodes and resistors, and is conveniently and easily added to existing burglar alarm circuits and loops. A monitoring module that includes a diode and a paralleled resistor is connected across each switch. First and second interrogating signals are alternately applied to the protection loop. First comparator circuit means provides an output in response to each first interrogating signal when one of the monitored switches in the protection loop is open as indicated by the response of the module resistors; and second comparator circuit means provides an output in response to each second interrogating signal when more than one of the monitored switches in the protection loop is open as indicated by the response of the module diodes.

    摘要: A fire detection system using optical fibers to transmit flame signals from a plurality of remote monitoring stations to a central detection and analysis station, the invention comprises a network of optical fibers which connect the monitoring stations to the central detection station for the purpose of transmitting incident analog optical, infrared and ultraviolet spectra to the central station for detection of fire conditions. The central detection and analysis station preferably includes a rotary scanner which scans each of the optical fibers, light from the fibers being dispersed by a prism associated with the scanner to allow detection of the various spectral components of the dispersed light by light sensitive semiconductors. The detected spectral components are then compared to known fire signal signatures which include flicker rate and spectral content information.
