    摘要: A wired data communications network for use in a building for the detection of fire or intrusion, the network including a control unit connected by cable to a series of uniquely addressable transducers for the transmission and reception of data in a polling signal. Each transducer has a memory for control data and for its own unique address and responds to a predetermined start voltage pulse in the polling signal to clear its memory and then responds to control data and address data in the polling signal to store the control data when the address matches its own address and transmit data to the control unit representative of its own status. At least one of the transducers determines whether the control data is extended data and, if so, stores the extended control data and the further control data, and performs the said transmission of data to the control unit and any other process dictated by the extended control data.

    摘要: A security monitoring system with addressable capability is provided. This system allows a plurality of video cameras to be connected to the security guard room via a single cable instead of a plurality of dedicated cables, as in the prior art. The security monitoring system comprises the following: a cable; a central control unit connected at the first end of the cable, capable of issuing a first signal; at least one addressable video camera connected at the second end of the cable connected to the central control unit; and a monitoring device for displaying a second signal. The addressable video camera receives the first signal from the central control unit and compares the first signal with a preset value; if these match, the addressable video camera sends out a second signal via the cable back to the central control unit. This second signal is then displayed on the monitoring device coupled to the monitor. The signal transmission between the central control unit and the plurality of video cameras can be carried out over one single cable. The arrangement and handling of the security monitoring system is therefore considerably simplified.

    摘要: A method and apparatus multiplexing multiple alarm and head type values in a peripheral fire alarm device includes a head component for sensing the presence or absence of smoke or heat and a base component for communicating with the control panel. A communication interface between the base and head components with no more than three connectors for multiplexing the values between the head component and the base component. The control panel stores algorithms particular to each type of head which may be used to determine if an alarm condition exists. Using data received from the peripheral fire alarm device, the control determines which type of head component is currently installed at the base component and selects the correct algorithm.

    摘要: An alarm system is disclosed which utilizes the Bell System DATAPHONE (a registered service mark of AT&T Company) Select-A-Station Service equipment to communicate alarm messages from a plurality of protected premises to a central monitoring station. The system includes a plurality of transponder units, one at each of the protected premises, connected to the central monitoring station through the Bell System equipment. The central monitoring station sequentially polls all the transponders. This is accomplished by sequentially setting up connections from the central monitoring station to the transponder units and sending a START tone burst. In response to receipt of a START tone burst, the connected transponder transmits a tone burst reporting the status of the protected premises. This tone burst contains six tone-pairs in defined time slots, each of the tone-pairs identifying the condition of an associated protected zone, AC power status, and whether the protected premises is in its DAY or NIGHT mode. An alarm condition causes the absence of a tone-pair associated with the particular protected zone. The central monitoring station monitors for the absence of tone-pairs and if two out of three consecutive polls, in their proper turn, of the transponder at a particular protected premises reveal the persistence of an alarm condition, operating personnel at the central monitoring station are alerted so that the proper authorities may in turn be notified. When a DAY to NIGHT transition is requested by a customer at a protected premises, the central monitoring station transmits a RINGBACK tone burst, which is the same frequency signal as utilized for the START tone burst, except that it occurs during a different time interval of the scan time. The central monitoring station includes a memory for storing the status of each of the protected premises, a display, a printer, and associated control circuitry.

    摘要: A high speed scanning system and method for scanning a matrix of alarm condition sensing means. A clock-fed counter means and decoder means automatically scan the matrix line by line. When a sensing means which has turned on due to the detection of an alarm condition is sensed the scanning means automatically stops scanning and a readout of the matrix position of the triggered alarm sensing means is provided. The scanning operation may be controlled in either an automatic mode by a central porcessing unit or in a manual mode by switches located on a control panel. The scanning operation may be stopped or started, the counters may be cleared or loaded and the current scanned matrix position may be read out.
