    摘要: A contact element for establishing an electrical connection between two insulated conductors includes a tubular member having at least one open end and being made of an electrically conductive material. The tubular member includes surfaces that define a slot which extends from the open end and which has a width that is less than the diameter of the conductive elements of the insulated conductors. The tubular member has sufficient stiffness and the slot is configured to cause at least portions of the surfaces that define the slot to nick the conductive element of each of one or more conductors that are moved into and along the slot. Any deflection of the slot surfaces which accompanies the movement of one or more insulated conductors into the slot is substantially negligible. In one embodiment, a portion of the periphery of the tubular member at its open end is coined so that as an insulated conductor is moved into the slot, any portion of it which overhangs the wall is severed by the coined portion; in another, the periphery includes an opening to allow the conductor to extend therethrough.

    摘要: A multicontact electrical connector comprising a two-piece connector housing in which electrical contacts are mounted within one of the housing sections. The rearward ends of the contacts are provided with slotted tubular termination sections which are adapted to receive insulated wires to form electrical and mechanical connections between the contacts and the wires. The second section of the housing functions as a tool which forcibly inserts the wires into the termination sections of the contacts at an acute angle. A plurality of wires may be connected to the contacts simultaneously at a work site without the necessity of any special tool or fixture. The termination sections of the contacts may be utilized for terminating flat cables as well as insulated round wires.

    摘要: Tubular conductor-in-slot connecting device comprises a formed tubular member having an axially extending open seam which serves as a conductor receiving slot. The member is partially transversely severed intermediate its ends to form two or more separate spring systems. A conductor can be inserted into the slot from each end of the tubular member to electrically connect the conductors to each other. One embodiment is adapted to be mounted on a panel member and another embodiment is insulated and used as a dead end connector for wires. An improved strain relief means for tubular connecting devices is also disclosed.

    摘要: An electrical connector assembly having a housing with terminal receiving passages. The terminal receiving passages have wire receiving portions. Wires are positioned in the wire receiving portions. The wires have cable jackets and center conductors. Electrically conductive components for controlling impedance of sections of the wires are positioned in the wire receiving portions of the terminal receiving passages. The electrically conductive components includes base walls with end walls, The end walls extend in a direction which is essentially perpendicular to planes of the base walls. The base walls have lengths which are approximately equal to lengths of the wire receiving portions of the terminal receiving passages. Insulation displacement slots are provided on the end walls. Lead-in sections extend from the insulation displacement slots in a direction away from the base wall.

At least some of the shields are used with a cable that includes a jacket surrounding wire pairs, and a different pair shield surrounding each wire pair. Such shields include a compressible member positioned adjacent end portions of a portion of the wire pairs. The compressible member presses a conductive member against the pair shield surrounding each wire pair in the portion of wire pairs. At least some of the wire connectors include a conductive body positionable alongside a selected wire having a connector surrounded circumferentially by an insulating jacket. The body includes a receptacle with a tapered opening defined between first and second edge portions of the body. As a portion of the selected wire passes through the opening into the receptacle, the first and second edge portions cut through the insulating jacket to contact the conductor.

The spring limbs (3a, 3b) in each case have at least one slot recess (9a, 9b) which extends in the direction of the limb end (4a, 4b) from the crosspiece (2), the width of the said slot recess being matched over the direction of extent to the width of the spring limbs (3a, 3b) such that an effective width of the spring limbs (3a, 3b), which tapers from the crosspiece (2) to the longitudinal side edge of the limb ends (4a, 4b), is produced in the longitudinal direction (L).
