摘要: A motorized knife sharpener and related methods of sharpening knives, wherein the knife sharpener is capable of sharpening knives of varying types and styles. The motorized knife sharpener includes a housing, motorized grinding assembly and an adjustable blade guide assembly. The adjustable blade guide assembly includes a selector switch accessible to a user on a front portion of the housing. With the selector switch, the user is able to selectively adjust a presentation angle defined by a blade guide relative to a grinding wheel. The selector switch is operably coupled to the blade guide with a cam assembly that pivots the blade guide with respect to the grinding wheel so as to vary the blade presentation angle.

摘要: A saw grinder having improved wear plates for allowing the saw grinder carriage to move without having to overcome the resistance caused by contact of the saw grinder wear plates with the peripheral edge of a saw blade. The wear plates form two separate wear plate assemblies, each having a slide plate and fixed plate containing a slot for slidably receiving the respective slide plate. This configuration permits the entire saw grinder, except the slide plates, to easily move in the direction of the force applied to the grinder carriage by allowing the slide plates to fixedly engage the peripheral edge of the saw while the fixed plates remain fixed to the saw grinder carriage and thus move therewith. Resilient members can be used to control the relative movement between the fixed plates and slide plates.

摘要: The invention concerns a knife sharpener for household knives or the like. In order to design a knife sharpener, which, one the one hand, can be used for sharpening and sits solidly on a surface without it having to be held, and which, on the other hand, is producible with little economic cost regarding production and assembly, the invention proposes a knife sharpener with a housing, which has a surface designed to be a base, and at least one longitudinal, cylindrical grinding element made from ceramics, at least part of the surface of which is arranged on the surface of the housing, whereas the base is designed at a right angle to a longitudinal line of the grinding element and the grinding element is positioned in the middle in relation to a projection of the base.

摘要: A sharpener includes a motor driven shaft with at least one slidably mounted sharpening assembly consisting of a supporting hub structure mounted by its central bore hole on the shaft. The hub structure supports a symmetrically shaped rotating surface containing an ultra fine abrasive material. The rotating surface is pressed with a force of less than 0.2 lb. by a spring action to make sustained rotating abrading contact with a facet of a knife positioned by a knife guide to align the facet into contact with the surface containing the abrasive materials.

摘要: An electronic hollow grinder bevel angle indicator wherein a microprocessor calculates the grinding bevel angle that will be obtained when a tool is placed flat upon a tool rest and presented to the periphery of a rotating grinding wheel. The calculated bevel angle is the acute angle of intersection between the tool rest plane and a plane tangent to the grinding wheel periphery at the line of intersection between the grinding wheel periphery and the tool rest plane. The microprocessor also calculates the air-gap between the tool rest and grinding wheel, and warns the operator when the air gap exceeds a specified safety threshold.

摘要: A method of operating an orbital saw to transversely sever superposed elongated web plies into shorter length products which includes advancing along a linear path superposed elongated web plies having a cross sectional area of at least about 3.5 square inches (2200 mm.sup.2), providing a 4-bar linkage including first and second bars extending generally parallel to each other and third and fourth bars connecting the first and second bar means adjacent the ends thereof, further providing a disc blade rotatably mounted on each of the third and fourth bars, rotating the first bar about a first axis to orbit the blades with the blade orbit intersecting the linear path with the centers of said disc blades being at least 30 inches (750 mm) apart while skewing the first axis at a minor acute angle to the linear path, connecting the first and the second bar with the third and fourth bar to provide at least one degree of pivotal freedom of the third and fourth bars relative to the first and second bars, and rotating the second bar about a second axis different from the first axis to compensate for the skewing and to orient the disc blades perpendicular to the web plies in the linear path when severing the web plies.

摘要: The invention concerns a device for sharpening of knives, which are mounted in the knife ring of a chip cutter and whose cutting edges run essentially parallel to the knife ring axis. Several grinding tools can be run intermittently and simultaneously in the direction of the knife ring axis in order to sharpen individual knives The knife ring stands still during the sharpening and is rotated around its own axis during the pauses between sharpening corresponding to the distribution of the knives over the periphery of the knife ring. Any grinding tool sharpens any knife in such a way that the desired total (amount of) removed grinding material is achieved with the last grinding tool in the peripheral direction of the knife ring.

摘要: A sharpener apparatus includes a base, a linear bearing assembly mounted on the base, and a support block carried by the bearing assembly for reciprocating movement along a rectilinear path relative to the base. A planar abrasive surface underlies the support block which has one or more open channels for receiving workpieces in sliding relation with the longitudinal axes of the workpiece preferably inclined to the abrasive surface. A pusher member is supported by the support block adjacent each channel for applying a constant force longitudinally of the corresponding workpiece to urge its tip against the abrasive surface. Manual or powered reciprocating movement of the support block effects an abrasive action of the workpiece tips against the abrasive surface to form a highly accurate and repeatable tip geometry, such as a chisel point, on each workpiece.

摘要: A method of operating an orbital saw for transversely severing elongated, superposed, multi-ply web material which includes advancing the web material along a path into a cutting station having a skew arm adjacent said path, rotating said arm about an axis skewed with respect to the path, the skew arm having a disc blade coupling means, such as a 4-bar linkage, mounted thereon and carrying a rotating disc blade with the blade axis spaced from the arm axis to cause the blade to intersect the path and cut the web material during the blade orbit, maintaining the blade axis at an angle skewed relative to the arm axis to position the disc blade continually perpendicular to the path whereby the disc blade makes a square cut through the web material, providing the coupling means with a grinding stone for the blade and a control for contacting the grinding stone and blade, and positioning the grinding stone radially inwardly throughout the entirety of the blade orbit whereby centrifugal forces are reduced and cyclic loading is substantially eliminated.
