摘要: A prober 10 including a probe card 16 having multiple probe needles 17 includes a needle-tip polishing unit 24, and the needle-tip polishing unit 24 includes a WAPP 28 to be contacted with needle tips and a supporting member 27 configured to support the WAPP 28. On a top surface of the WAPP 28, a wrapping sheet 29 is provided, and the WAPP 28 includes multiple recesses 31 formed on a bottom surface 30 thereof and the supporting member 27 includes multiple protrusions 33 formed on a ceiling surface 32 thereof. When the WAPP 28 is moved to a retreat position, the protrusions 33 are respectively inserted and fitted into the recesses 31, and when the WAPP 28 is moved to a contact position, top portions of the protrusions 33 are respectively brought into contact with portions on the bottom surface 30 where the recesses 31 are not formed.

摘要: A cutting-tool holder (1) used for grinding includes a holder body (10) including a pair of pinching pieces (11, 11) biased to each other; and a pair of handgrips (30, 30) provided on the holder body (10) which sets the pair of pinching pieces (11, 11) apart from each other by applying force to the handgrips (30, 30). The holder body (10) may further include a connecting portion (12) with a nearly C-shaped cross section which connects base end parts (11c, 11c) of the pinching pieces (11, 11). Each handgrip (30) may be configured so that one end part (30a) is fixed to the pinching piece (11), the middle part penetrates the connecting portion (12), and the other end part extends away from the pinching piece (11).

摘要: A hypodermic needle featuring a multi-beveled point geometry is disclosed. In one embodiment, the multi-beveled point features a primary bevel, a pair of tip bevels, and a pair of middle bevels each intermediate the primary bevel and a respective one of the tip bevels. The primary and middle bevels are provided at angles of inclination, measured between the central axis and a reference plane that are substantially identical. The tip bevels are formed at an angle of inclination respective to the central axis which is not equal to the angle of inclination at which the primary and middle bevels are formed. The resulting five-beveled point geometry contributes to a more continuous bevel face free of abrupt intercepts or transitions between the respective bevel faces, lessening the penetration force required to urge the needle point through skin, flesh, or other material.

摘要: A sharpener apparatus includes a base, a linear bearing assembly mounted on the base, and a support block carried by the bearing assembly for reciprocating movement along a rectilinear path relative to the base. A planar abrasive surface underlies the support block which has one or more open channels for receiving workpieces in sliding relation with the longitudinal axes of the workpiece preferably inclined to the abrasive surface. A pusher member is supported by the support block adjacent each channel for applying a constant force longitudinally of the corresponding workpiece to urge its tip against the abrasive surface. Manual or powered reciprocating movement of the support block effects an abrasive action of the workpiece tips against the abrasive surface to form a highly accurate and repeatable tip geometry, such as a chisel point, on each workpiece.

摘要: Apparatus for grinding tapers and points on elongated needle workpieces having frame means and needle workpiece transport means associated with the frame means for transporting a plurality of the workpieces. The workpiece transport means has a predetermined curvature and workpiece feeder means is mounted adjacent the frame means for feeding workpieces to the workpiece transport means. The grinding means is preferably a grinding wheel disposed adjacent the workpiece transport means to engage workpieces while supported by workpiece supporting means and has a major diameter at a first end and a minor diameter at a second end, the major diameter being greater than the minor diameter. The diameters are connected by a curved grinding surface the diameter of which increases progressively therebetween. The curvature of the grinding wheel in the first third portion between the major and minor diameters is of greater mean curvature than the mean curvature of the corresponding opposed portion of the workpiece transport means. The second third portion of the grinding wheel is of greater mean curvature than the mean curvature of the corresponding opposed portion of the workpiece transport means.

摘要: A device and method for shaping an end of an elongated workpiece is disclosed. The device comprises an elongated tubular handle containing a coaxially positioned elongated tubular member which is journaled for rotation within the handle. The tubular member protrudes from both ends of the handle and has a clamping means for securing an inserted workpiece therein on one end thereof and a retaining means on the other end which prevents the tubular member from sliding out of the handle unless the retaining means is removed. In operating the device, a workpiece is inserted into the tubular member to the desired length, clamped into that position, then is applied by the operator of the device to a revolving shaping tool, such as a grinder, whereupon the workpiece is caused to rotate by its contact with the revolving tool until the desired shape is achieved.
