Abstract: The present invention concerns an automated storage system and remotely operated vehicle or robot for picking up storage bins from a storage system. The inventive vehicle or robot comprises a vehicle body, which vehicle body further comprises a first section for storing vehicle driving means and a second section for receiving any storage bin stored in a storage column within the storage system, a vehicle lifting device which is at least indirectly connected to the vehicle body in order to lift the storage bin into the second section, a first set of vehicle rolling means connected to the vehicle body in order to allow movement of the vehicle along a first direction (X) within the storage system during use and a second set of vehicle rolling means connected to the vehicle body in order to allow movement of the vehicle along a second direction (Y) in the storage system during use. The second direction (Y) is oriented perpendicular to the first direction (X). The inventive vehicle is characterized in that the second section comprises a cavity arranged centrally within the vehicle body. This cavity has at least one bin receiving opening facing towards the underlying storage columns during use. In addition, at least one of the two sets of vehicle rolling means is arranged fully within the vehicle body.

Abstract: An industrial vehicle includes a holding portion for holding a load, a raising/lowering portion for raising/lowering the holding portion, a control valve for controlling the amount of hydraulic oil supplied to or discharged from the raising/lowering portion, and a control device for supplying an energizing current to the control valve. The control device includes a speed calculation unit for calculating first and second speed command values for an ascending/descending speed, a current calculation unit for calculating first and second current command values for the energizing current, and a current supply portion for supplying first and second energizing currents to the control valve, thereby offsetting a first vibration generated in the load upon start of supplying the first energizing current, by a second vibration generated in the load upon start of supplying the second energizing current.

Abstract: A side picker apparatus comprises a wheeled lift truck with powered lift tower configured to lift an operator platform and controls along with a carrier/storage unit for transporting picked elongated product. The storage unit is L-shaped and includes a chute section that guides picked product to an under-platform storage section located below/under the platform in a well-balanced storage position. The apparatus can be installed as a retrofit onto a modified order picker truck. The method includes picking elongated product and lowering/guiding it to the under-platform storage section. The storage section can include pop-up wheels that, in a ground-engaging position, pop up to assist in moving the picked product off the carrier/storage unit.

Abstract: A lifter system based traversal mechanism for a robot includes detection of the robot at a predetermined distance from a movable platform. The movable platform is part of the lifter system. Teeth orientation of cog wheels of the robot are changed to match teeth orientation of teeth of a fixed teeth structure of the movable platform. The movable platform is moved in to a predetermined proximity of the robot so that teeth are engaged. The movable platform takes the robot from a first position to a second position. On reaching the second position the robot is disengaged from the movable platform.

Abstract: Forklift truck scales comprise a scale assembly having a back plate and a front plate, the back plate connected to a mast on a lift truck and the front plate having a pair of forks for holding pallets or other items thereon. The front plate is held to the back plate via a plurality of laterally spaced and adjustable chains or cables near a top thereof and allowed to move vertically relative to each other via a roller near a bottom thereof. One or more load sensing elements or load cells are utilized to determine the weight of the load. The present invention minimizes inaccurate load readings, allows for quick and easy “heel to toe” adjustments of the scale, and further allows for in-motion weighing.

Abstract: A pedestrian truck (50) steered with a tiller (56) is operable in a first mode where a controllable front wheel (64) is aligned generally parallel with a front-rear center line of the truck, or a second mode where the wheel is generally perpendicular to the front-rear center line. A steering controller can operate in either a normal steering mode to steer the rear steerable wheel (52) in the same sense (clockwise or anticlockwise) as the tiller is rotated and in an alternate steering mode to steer the rear steerable wheel in the opposite sense to the rotation of the tiller. A steering mode selector is provided which automatically engages the alternate steering mode when the truck is in the second mode of operation and either (i) the tiller is positioned on the same side of the center line as the controllable front wheel and the drive direction is such that the tiller leads the truck (FIGS. 12-14), or (ii) the tiller is positioned on the same side of the center line as the castor front wheel (58) and the drive direction is such that the tiller trails the truck (FIGS. 4, 5).
