Abstract:
A window reveal kit can include a window, a first connector, and at least one reveal trim. The window has an outer side, an inner side, and a frame portion about a perimeter of the window. The first connector can be formed on the frame portion, on the inner side of the window. The at least one reveal trim can have a second connector that is configured to engage the first connector so that the reveal trim extends from the first connector.
Abstract:
The fenestration structures include external frame segments facing the interior and exterior surfaces of a building wall, and an internal frame segment “sandwiched” between the external frame segments. The external frame segments are made from a relatively hard, dense and/or resilient material, such as hard wood, while the internal frame segment is made from paulownia which is a moisture-resistant, dimensionally stable thermal barrier material. The external frame segments therefore provide durable and attractive exterior and interior surfaces of the fenestration frame, while the internal paulownia segment provides superior resistance to thermal transfer across the frame, while also remaining dimensionally stable across a variety of moisture and temperature levels. Internal paulownia segments may be positioned around the entire periphery of the fenestration frame to create a comprehensive thermal barrier.
Abstract:
An access door for insertion into an opening in a construction surface is provided. The access door has a frame for engagement with edges of the opening in the construction surface. The frame has a channel formed therein for receiving a thermally insulative material to provide a thermal break between the frame and the construction surface. A door is operatively coupled to the frame and movable between an open position allowing access through the opening in the construction surface and a closed position preventing access through the opening in the construction surface.
Abstract:
A casing system for covering the edges of structural frameworks and the like. The system includes a first casing piece and a second casing piece shaped to fit together. The first casing piece has a decorative profile milled into at least one side or end edge. The second casing piece has a reverse image of the decorative profile milled into a side or end edge. The pieces fit together by abutting edges or sides having a decorative profile and the reverse image of the decorative profile.
Abstract:
A seamless surround for a rectangular skylight assembly is provided. Each side of the rectangular surround is characterized as having an obtuse-angled profile having an angle of between greater than 90 degrees and about 100 degrees, the profile including a vertically extending surface and a downwardly sloping surface. The vertically extending surfaces abut curb members attached to the skylight assembly and include apertures therethrough for receipt of a joining element. The downwardly sloping surfaces abut a building rooftop and further include apertures therethrough for receipt of a joining element. The roof-abutting side of the downwardly sloping surfaces includes a barrier material attached thereto. The barrier material may be any suitable air and water barrier, such as a polyurethane foam or a thermoplastic elastomer. A method of installing a skylight having the seamless surround is also provided.

Abstract:
A wooden frame for window or door leaves is composed of frame pieces, each one of which comprising a first part facing outwards in a wall opening and a second part facing inwards. The outer, first part of the individual frame piece is delimited by two surfaces converging outwardly and at an acute angle relative to each other, said surfaces emanating from dividing cuts made in an initial log, said cuts extending radially from the area of the center of the log. In that way, the annual rings in the wood material are orientated in such a way that imagined tangents to individual annual rings cut through said surfaces substantially perpendicularly to the planes of the surfaces and older annual rings being situated closest to the free, narrow edge of the part.
Abstract:
The window buck is made of extruded irregular shapes consisting of a combination of cellulose and polymer compounded specifically to be used in connection with building walls of poured concrete. The combination desirably is a mixture of approximately 70% cellulose and approximately 30% polymer. The cellulose is preferably sawdust, and the polymer preferably is polyethylene.
