摘要: To assist in locating an underground or otherwise hidden non-electrically-conducting plastic pipe carrying a fluid such as heating gas a tool is provided which comprises a reel of relatively stiff but flexible locator wire, a hermetically-sealing first bushing through which the locator wire passes and a coupler for engaging a pipe exposed to view but coupled to and communicating for fluid flow with the pipe to be located, such coupler being adapted to receive, in snug fashion, said first bushing and including a packing membrane through which said locator wire passes to further assure no loss of fluid from the pipe being located, said locator terminating at its extremity remote from the reel in a guide member having a shape which may be described as suggestive of an oblate spheroid; i.e., it is symmetrical about an axis aligned with the axis of the locator wire and has an equator from which it tapers downwardly in diameter towards two aligned ends; such guide member being inserted through the exposed pipe and into the pipe to be located, wherein it is pushed by means of the stiff locator wire until the terminus of pipe to be located is reached, whereupon appropriate signals are applied to such wire to permit the detection of the location of such wire and the plastic pipe, by appropriate signal sensing equipment. Alternatively, magnetometer detection equipment may be utilized to locate the locator wire.

摘要: The method of ditching over a buried line involves making a hole, in advance of ditching, down to a level near a section of the buried line lying at the intersection with a proposed trench, spanning the line section with a line protector, and driving a ditching machine so that its excavating member makes the trench and in so doing rides in the trench over the protector and above the line section.

摘要: A self-propelled vehicle having a centrally mounted inclined guide trough for guiding pipe sections as the vehicle is driven along a row of attached pipe sections. The sections are guided upwardly to the level of a working platform. An angulation trough contacts the end of a pipe section and angulate a first pipe section relative to the next section so that the first section can be disconnected. Disconnected sections are placed in racks on either side of the platform. The two ends of the guide trough have different inclinations to aid in the assembly of the pipe sections when laying pipe.

摘要: Sprinkler pipe sections supported on a wheeled carriage are connected end-to-end and deposited on the ground to form a pipeline as the carriage rolls forward. Each sprinkler pipe section is equipped with coupling parts at opposite ends thereof and is provided with a riser and sprinkler head. A plurality of such sprinkler pipe sections are supported longitudinally on the carriage, each with its riser hanging down by gravity. Feed apparatus moves the sprinkler pipe sections laterally toward a loading position. Transfer mechanism including pivoted arms engage the ends of each pipe section as it reaches loading position and transfers it to a longitudinal guide trough supported on the carriage near the ground and outside the wheels. The forward end of the pipe section is deposited in the trough and the rear end is supported in a position laterally offset from the trough, and the riser with its sprinkler head is held in an upright position. Another sprinkler pipe section, previously deposited, moves out of the guide trough as the carriage moves forward, and the riser thereon triggers a mechanism to shift the offset end of the first-mentioned sprinkler pipe section into the guide trough. A power operated device then moves the sprinkler pipe section longitudinally in the trough to couple it automatically to the previously-deposited sprinkler pipe section. The sequence of operation is repeated until the pipeline formed by sprinkler pipe sections on the ground reaches the desired length.

摘要: The present invention discloses a water intake pipeline structure passing through a soft foundation embankment below a flood level and a construction method. The water intake pipeline structure comprises: pipelines, a gate valve well, a concrete pipe bed, a high-pressure jet grouting pile continuous wall, cement deep mixing piles, geogrids, backfilling clay, a clay bound macadam and concrete key walls. After the embankment is broken and excavated to reach a pipeline embankment-passing design elevation, the cement deep mixing piles are fully disposed in a plum blossom type, and the high-pressure jet grouting pile continuous wall is disposed under the gate valve well. A plain concrete cushion layer, the gate valve well, the concrete key walls and the concrete pipe bed are poured, the water intake pipelines are installed, and the pipelines behind the gate valve well are wrapped with concrete. The geogrids are placed during clay backfilling, and layered soil filling is performed. An embankment top is restored by using the clay bound macadam. The gate valve well is provided with a gate valve, and an operating lever is connected onto the gate valve. The present invention further discloses the construction method of the water intake pipeline structure designed to pass through the soft foundation embankment below the flood level. The present invention can eliminate differential settlement of an embankment-passing section, cut off seepage channels in contact positions of the pipelines and the embankment body, and improve the anti-skid stability of an embankment slope, and meanwhile it is novel in structure and convenient to implement.

摘要: Methods and apparatus for extending lines for carrying fluids or signals are provided. The lines may be used to deliver fluids, signals and/or power. A wide range of applications include fighting wildfires, fire prevention, providing telecommunications and providing power. The apparatus for deploying a line can include an elongated carried part and a plurality of ground contacting parts that are coupled to and movable relative to the carried part. A plurality of actuators distributed along a length of the carried part are operable to move the ground contacting parts relative to one another and/or move the carried part relative to the ground contacting parts. The actuators are distributed over a length of the carried part. The ground contacting parts may, for example be arranged end to end or arranged in a parallel side-by side relationship.
