A process for producing light-emitting devices, particularly OLEDs, which saves material and produces a homogeneous light-emitting layer, is provided. The process involves applying layers to a substrate so as to produce a layer assembly, including the steps of 1) applying an electrode, 2) producing a surface with depressions, and 3) applying organic light-emitting material that is introduced into the depressions.

A composite thin film-holding substrate for a surface light emitter, which is a transparent substrate including a composite thin film containing fine particles and a binder formed on the surface of a transparent base material. The refractive index of the composite thin film is higher than the refractive index of the transparent base material. The difference in the refractive index between the fine particles and the binder contained in the composite thin film is at least 0.1, and the ratio of (solid content mass of the fine particles)/(solid content mass of the binder+solid content mass of the fine particles) of the composite thin film is from 0.01 to 0.5. A surface light emitter can use the substrate.

A spacer structure for use in a flat panel display, and a corresponding flat panel display article are disclosed, together with an appertaining method of fabricating the spacer structure utilizing a photosensitive precursor material which is selectively irradiated, developed and etchingly processed to produce shaped standoff elements for a unitary spacer structure. The spacer structure may be dimensionally fabricated to precisely align with a selected pixel region, comprising a single pixel or an array of pixels, e.g., a color (red, blue, green) triad.
Abstract:
An anode assembly for a luminescent display tube comprises a substrate and a plurality of anode segments. The anode segments have layers of a luminescent material deposited in respective recesses formed in the substrate in conformity with the anode segments. A layer of tungsten carbide is disposed underlying each of the luminescent material layers.
