摘要： A method of printing on a web of paper includes the steps of providing the web, adjusting a tension on the web and sequentially printing each of a plurality of different indicia on defined sequential longitudinally spaced printing fields of the web. Information is then printed in each of the defined printing fields on the web. Preferably, the method is used for printing bingo game booklets in which each sheet of the booklet is identified by a different color or border than is each other sheet in the booklet. The apparatus includes a roll stand from which the web is fed and an indicia printing unit. The indicia printing unit includes a plurality of indicium rolls supported by and spaced around a frame and an endless printing belt supported by the rolls, the printing belt having a plurality of sequentially longitudinally spaced print areas. The endless printing belt is looped around a register cylinder and an impression cylinder is provided around which a paper web is looped as the web is brought into contact with the endless printing belt to print a sequence of different printing fields, each designated by a different indicium from each adjacent printing field on the paper web. A first control system automatically regulates which portions of the belt contact which of the indicium rolls and in what sequence.

摘要： A method and apparatus for multicolor printing of paper webs. The method provides a means for printing creped paper webs while maintaining precise control of color register in spite of any stretching of the web during the printing process. Apparatus is disclosed which comprises a plurality of rotary printing plates, each inked with an ink of an independent color, and a single blanket cylinder for transferring the colored inks in proper register from the plates to the blanket and from the blanket to the web. The blanket cylinder or the impression cylinder or both may be segmented which permits printing selected portions of the web without ironing out embossments in other areas of the web by the printing rolls.

The lock-up mounting bracket 50 and the hinge mounting bracket 40 are pivotally secured to the duplicator press frames for rotation by an eccentric actuator 110, 115 for moving the printing plate 35 into engagement with the blanket cylinder 16 in the duplicator press 10. The inker carriage 70 and the plate cylinder carriage 20 can be swung away from the blanket 16 of the duplicator press either separately or in combination.

Another blanket cylinder is coordinated to the forme cylinder, this blanket cylinder taking the multi-color motif to be printed from the forme cylinder and transferring it onto the support to be printed. A counter pressure cylinder may cooperate with this blanket cylinder. A sheet-shaped or web-shaped support to be printed is interposed between the blanket cylinder and the counter pressure cylinder and is printed in offset collect-printing.

Transducing elements of respectively different widths may be used (FIG. 3); or much narrower transducing elements, the outputs of which are then combined in a summing circuit and in which the number of the transducing elements, transverse to the transport direction of the pattern, is equal to the common divisor of the zone width (e.g. for zone widths of 30, 35, 40 mm, a transducer width of 5 mm); or transducers of fixed widths can be located on parallel arms of a scissor grid, the relative inclination of which with respect to the transducing direction can be changed, to provide for infinitely variable overlap, and coverage of the width of the pattern, in zones of infinitely variable dimension.

摘要： A two-color offset printing press having two plate cylinders simultaneously engageable with a single blanket cylinder is disclosed. The plate cylinders and the blanket cylinder are rotatably mounted on a printer head fixed to the mainframe of the press. A first set of dampening and inking rollers is mounted on the printer head and engageable with one of the plate cylinders. A second set of dampening and inking rollers, engageable with the other plate cylinder, is mounted on a ball bushing supported carriage linearly movable to and from the printer head along a pair of parallel rails fixed to the mainframe. Image registry between the two plate cylinders is established by an operator-accessible adjustment mechanism for shifting one of the plate cylinders back and forth along its axis of rotation. An electrical safety interlock system precludes operator access to the carriage-associated plate cylinder during predetermined operating modes of the press.
