Abstract: Systems and methods for selecting objects by tracing the paths the objects traverse on a display. An object moving across a display screen does so along a particular path. Users may trace the shape of this path, such as by outlining the shape of the path with their finger or other device on a touch sensitive screen, moving a cursor with, e.g., a mouse, moving a motion-sensitive screen, or the like. The display may match the shape of the user's traced path to the shape of an object's path. Objects whose paths are shaped sufficiently similar to the user's traced path may then be selected. In this manner, users may select an object by tracing the path it takes, rather than directly picking or touching the object itself. This allows users an additional method for selecting displayed objects, improving the flexibility of many displays and programs run thereon.

Abstract: The methods and systems described herein aid users by providing thorough and efficient content consumption. For example, the methods and systems buffer content segments related to a current portion of the content that the system is generating for display. Abstract: Systems and methods for addressing a corrupted segment in a media asset. The media guidance application determines that a segment of a media asset is corrupted. The media guidance application determines whether a retrieval period to retrieve an uncorrupted copy of the segment exceeds a threshold period. If the retrieval period does not exceed the threshold period, the media guidance application retrieves and generates for display the uncorrupted copy of the segment. If the retrieval period exceeds the threshold period, the media guidance application determines whether an importance level of the corrupted segment exceeds a threshold level. If the importance level exceeds the threshold level, the media guidance application generates for display a summary for the corrupted segment. If the importance level does not exceed the threshold level, the media guidance application generates for display the subsequent segment and the summary for the corrupted segment in an overlay.

Abstract: Systems and methods for providing fast forwarding recommendations based on the user's consumption history are disclosed. The consumption history includes data relating to attributes that were previously rewinded and watched and those that were skipped and forwarded. It also includes scores for attributes that were present and absent in a portion that was previously rewinded or forwarded. A score is assigned to the attributes and used for determining a consumption pattern. If the consumption pattern indicates that the user previously rewinded and watched the attribute, then a recommendation not to skip an upcoming portion that includes the attribute is provided. A graphical timeline that depicts the amount of time saved by skipping the portion of the media asset with the attribute is also provided.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creating and managing a breakout conference for a primary conference are disclosed. The system monitors communications between participants of a primary conference to determine if a) participants have a disagreement that needs to be resolved or b) if a topic from the meeting agenda requires additional time for discussion. Participant language, including negations and repetitive word usage, job profiles, body language, overlapping voice signals, among other factors, are monitored to determine if a disagreement exists. If a disagreement exists or additional time is required, the system automatically creates a virtual breakout session, determines the topic that created the disagreement, determines participants associated with the disagreed topic, and moves them to the breakout session. The system also provides meeting tools such that participants in the primary conference may communicate and alert participants in the breakout session, and vice versa, without leaving their respective sessions.
