Abstract: Systems for fabricating orthodontic appliances are provided. In some embodiments, a system includes a build platform configured to receive a polymerizable composition, the polymerizable composition including a first polymerizable component and a second polymerizable component, the polymerizable composition characterized by an initial ratio of the first polymerizable component to the second polymerizable component. The system can also include a light source configured to form a portion of an orthodontic appliance from the polymerizable composition by: forming a first region by exposing the polymerizable composition to radiation, where the first region includes a first ratio of the first polymerizable component to the second polymerizable component, the first ratio being different from the initial ratio; and forming a second region, where the second region includes a second ratio of the first polymerizable component to the second polymerizable component, the second ratio being different from the initial ratio and the first ratio.

Abstract: A system includes an intraoral scanner configured to generate intraoral scan data comprising intraoral images of an arch of a patient, and a computing device operatively coupled to the intraoral scanner. The computing device is configured to receive the intraoral scan data comprising the intraoral images of the arch generated during scanning of the arch by the intraoral scanner, a plurality of objects each comprising a surface pattern having been applied onto the arch of the patient prior to the scanning of the arch, wherein at least some of the intraoral images comprise representations of one or more objects of the plurality of objects. The computing device is further configured to generate a three-dimensional (3D) model of the arch using the intraoral images that comprise representations of the one or more objects and output the 3D model to a display.

In some implementations, artificial intelligence uses libraries of labeled 2D images and 3D dental models to learn how to segment a 3D dental model of a subject's oral cavity using 2D images, height map and/or other data and projection values that relate the 2D images to the 3D model. As noted herein, the dental classes can include a variety of intra-oral and extra-oral objects and can be represented as binary values, discrete values, a continuum of height map data, etc. In some implementations, several dental classes are predicted concurrently.

Abstract: Improved dental models for use in dental procedures are provided. In one aspect, a unitary dental model of an intraoral cavity of a patient having a dental implant comprises a physical surface representative of gingival tissue of the patient. The model can comprise a channel shaped and oriented to receive an abutment corresponding to a physical abutment to be connected to the dental implant, in which the channel extends to an opening in the physical surface. The channel can comprise a first portion shaped to receive and constrain a corresponding structure of the abutment to a position and orientation and a second portion shaped to receive a fastener to couple the abutment to the unitary dental model. In many embodiments, the first portion comprises a shoulder shaped to receive the corresponding structure of the abutment in order to position the abutment along the channel.

Abstract: Apparatuses, systems, and methods for importing and/or transferring data, including dental data, from three-dimensional (3D) dental models to two-dimensional (2D) dental images may manipulate the 3D dental model based on a temporomandibular joint. A 2D projected image is generated from a patient's 3D dental model. If the 2D projected image matches (within a threshold) to a patient's 2D dental image (from a photo or the like), then dental data may be transferred. If the 2D projected image does not match, then the 3D dental model may be modified (based on the temporomandibular joint) and a new 2D projected image generated. In this manner, the positions of the 3D dental model may be iterated to generate multiple 2D projected images.

Abstract: A system comprises an image capture device, an augmented reality (AR) display to display, and a processing device. The processing deice receives image data of a dental arch from the image capture device and processes the image data using a plurality of detection rules, where each detection rule detects one or more dental conditions. The processing device determines a dental condition for the dental arch based on the processing, determines a position of an area of interest on the dental arch, wherein the area of interest is associated with the dental condition, generates a visual overlay comprising an indication of the dental condition at the position of the area of interest, and outputs the visual overlay to the AR display, wherein the visual overlay is superimposed over a view of the dental arch on the AR display at the position of the area of interest.
