    Abstract: The dual mode INS high performance system using an IMM mixing method presented in this disclosure utilizes a MEMS-based IMU as the inertial sensor due, in part, to low cost and low power consumption. A dual filtering system, one with fifteen state EKF and the other with twenty one state EKF is mixed in real-time to address dynamic overlapping and continuous transition from a low dynamic mode to a high dynamic mode. The IMM estimation scheme is employed to compute the real-time mixing coefficients via the IMM probability mixing formulation. The present disclosure is applicable to earth to orbit platforms, spinning projectiles, and the like to successfully reconstruct the object's state estimate vector even under a high angular rate and high g operating environment.

    Abstract: A transmitter includes a processing circuit to generate I level data and Q level data that, when respectively converted to I baseband input and Q baseband input, cause a carrier signal modulated by the I baseband input and the Q baseband input to have a desired edge shape in the time domain. The edge shape includes a low portion, a high portion, and an edge portion between the low portion and the high portion. The edge portion has a desired edge time compatible with the frequency of the carrier signal. The transmitter further includes a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to convert the I level data to the I baseband input and the Q level data to the Q baseband input, and an in-phase and quadrature (I/Q) modulator to perform I/Q modulation of the carrier signal according to the I baseband input and the Q baseband input.

    Abstract: Techniques are provided for laser illumination employing closely spaced laser beams. A system implementing the techniques according to an embodiment includes a semi-cylindrical optical block comprising a curved surface and a planar surface. The system further includes two laser sources configured to direct first and second laser beams to the curved surface, such that the first laser beam enters and exits the block parallel to and offset from the planar surface by a selected translation distance, and the second laser beam enters the block at a critical angle relative to the planar surface. The critical angle is associated with total internal reflection of the second laser beam along the planar surface, such that the second laser beam exits the block parallel to, and separated from, the first laser beam exiting the optical block. The separation of the exiting first and second laser beams is controlled by the selected translation distance.

    Abstract: The discriminability of an RF fingerprint is increased by “abstracting,” “enhancing,” and “reconstructing” a digital signal before it is transmitted, where the abstraction is a reversible nonlinear compression, the enhancement is a modification of the abstracted data, and the reconstruction is a mapping-back of the abstraction. During a training phase, for each individual RF transmitter, RF fingerprints are analyzed and candidate enhancements are modified until a successful enhancement is identified that provides satisfactory discriminability improvement with minimal signal degradation. The successful enhancement is implemented in the RF transmitter, and the RF fingerprint is communicated to receivers for subsequent detection and verification. Reinforcement learning can direct modifications to the candidate enhancements. The abstraction can implement a deep generative model such as an auto-encoder. A covert data enhancement can encode covert data onto the RF fingerprint, whereby the covert data is transmitted covertly to a receiver.

    Abstract: A system produces an interpolated luminance-balanced monochrome image from a Red-Clear-Clear-Clear (RCCC) pattern image. It may include an imager having a RCCC pattern filter array. There is an interpolation processing module with one or more processors processing sampled, red filtered image pixels. A red plane is interpolated using the sampled, red filtered pixels, producing an interpolated red for the pixels. The interpolated red pixels are subtracted from the sampled clear pixels, producing a “Clear minus Red” (“C−R”) plane. A C−R value is interpolated for the red filtered pixels. The interpolated C−R value is added to the sampled red pixels, and the monochrome image is output, where the luminance is balanced across the pixels, especially in low and very light environments.
