    Abstract: A variable stator vane arrangement is provided in which the variable stator vanes extend from a first end at a radially inner flow boundary to a second end at a radially outer flow boundary. At least one of the radially inner flow boundary and the radially outer flow boundary is faceted, such that the surface of the faceted flow boundary comprises flat portions at the interfaces with the respective first or second end of each stator vane. The flat portions mean that the tips of the variable stator vanes can be made substantially flush with the flat casing portions. This may improve aerodynamic efficiency and/or increase the design flexibility on where to position the pivot axis of the variable stator vanes.

    Abstract: An oil chamber wall arrangement is described as comprising: a chamber wall surrounding a rotor; a plurality of apertures defining through-holes for a flow of oil through the chamber wall, the apertures being defined by a pair of axially separated opposing walls and a pair of circumferentially opposing walls wherein the circumferentially opposing walls are separated by a midline which is radial to the rotational axis of the rotor and at least one of the pair of circumferentially opposing walls is not parallel to the radial midline.

    Abstract: A gas turbine engine comprises a plurality of variable guide vanes, a unison ring, and a lever arrangement connecting the unison ring to the variable guide vanes. The lever arrangement comprises a lever pin received by the unison ring, and a bush provided between the lever pin and the unison ring. The bush comprises a sprung region biased outwardly away from the lever pin towards the unison ring.

    Abstract: A method of assessing a condition of a multi-phase power system comprises the steps of: acquiring a voltage signal and a current signal for each phase of the multi-phase power system; calculating a product of the voltage signal for each phase of the multi-phase power system with one of the current signals such that the product is between a voltage signal for one phase and a current signal for a different phase for at least two of the products; summing the calculated products; and identifying the possible existence of a fault in the multi-phase power system based on a frequency analysis of the summed calculated products.

    Abstract: An assembly for mounting a circumferential shroud to a casing, including a plurality of arcuate shroud segments collectively forming the circumferential shroud. Each segment includes a circumferentially extending wall and a channel extending from the wall. The channel is receivable in a hole passing through a circumferential casing and has a first connector. A fastener has a head and a shank, which is receivable in the channel and has a second connector that engages with the first connector. A first spacer receives the channel and a second spacer receives the shank and sit adjacent the head of the fastener on either side of the casing. The spacers can be selected to adjust for optimal radial positioning of the shroud and of probes received within a space defined between the casing and the shroud for monitoring rotor speed and the tip air gap of a turbine rotor contained in the casing.

    Abstract: In some examples, a system includes a blade including a blade tip and a blade track or blade shroud segment including a substrate and an abradable coating layer on the substrate. The substrate defines a leading edge and a trailing edge. The abradable coating layer includes a first tapered portion that substantially continuously tapers from a center portion of the substrate toward the leading edge of the substrate, a second tapered portion that substantially continuously tapers from the center portion of the substrate toward the trailing edge of the substrate, and a blade rub portion that extends between the first tapered portion and the second tapered portion. The abradable coating extends from the leading edge to the trailing edge, and the blade tip is configured to contact at least a portion of the blade rub portion upon rotation of the blade.
