摘要: A hearing aid circuit using an averaging detector and a plurality of time constants to produce a compression control signal to control the gain of a compression amplifier which compresses an input signal when the averaging detector signal exceeds a predetermined threshold. The compression control signal has an attack and release time. The release time of the compression control signal is proportional to the duration of time during which the averaging signal's amplitude exceeds the predetermined threshold level. The release has a variable recovery rate. The recovery rate is relatively fast during an initial portion of the release time and relatively slower during the remaining portion of the release time. The hearing aid circuit may also use a volume control to adjust the gain of the signal produced by the compression amplifier without adjusting the gain of the signal produced by a linear amplifier to provide volume control for soft sounds independent of loud sounds.

摘要: A portable LCD-type projector for images on a viewing surface such as a projection screen. The projector includes a housing having top, bottom, front and back panels hingedly connected in a parallelogram. The housing panels are movable from a first, generally flat folded position to a second, open position in which the top and bottom panels are generally horizontal and the front and back panels are oriented at a generally 45.degree. angle. The projector includes a light source, a lens, and an LCD or similar image-generating panel. The LCD panel is carried in a location optically between the light source and the lens. The LCD panel is movable from a first, generally horizontal stored position to a second, generally vertical operating position. Mirrors are provided for directing light emitted by the light source through the LCD panel and the lens for projection on a projection screen.

摘要: A headset for acoustic reproduction of an electronic signal which electronic signal is representative of the summation of a desired audio signal and an anti-noise signal. The headset includes a headband, an earcup mounted to the headband, a driver mounted within the earcup which receives and acoustically reproduces the electronic signal, a directional microphone which detects and transduces the acoustical pressure within the earcup cavity, means for generating the anti-noise signal from the microphone signal, and a positioning member for mounting the microphone to the earcup in a position so that the microphone is acoustically coupled to the driver. The microphone is oriented so that its vented or open face is pointing towards the driver. If the driver is provided with an inner dome portion and an outer annulus portion the microphone is positioned by its attachment to a grille plate extending across the driver, the microphone being mounted to the grille plate on a side opposite the driver. The grille plate includes a plurality of apertures, at least one of which is positioned proximate the center of the driver with the microphone mounted across that aperture so that the microphone is acoustically coupled to the dome portion and acoustically isolated from the outer annulus portion.

摘要: An audio frequency amplification circuit for use with low level, high impedance signal sources, such as a miniature electret microphone, particularly useful where the power supply range is variable or may be limited to a single cell. The preferred embodiments of the circuit include a field effect transistor preamplifier stage operating as a voltage follower which is biased by a first and second impedance network coupled to the gate electrode of the FET transistor. A first impedance network is coupled between the power source terminals to provide a floating bias point. A second, high impedance network comprising (in one embodiment) a pair of parallel, reverse oriented diodes and a high impedance resistor is coupled between the bias point and the gate terminal of the transistor. In a further embodiment, the first impedance network comprises series connected high impedance resistors, and the second impedance network includes only the parallel, reverse oriented diodes. In either embodiment, extremely low capacitance elements may be coupled across the high impedance resistors, the elements preferably comprising stray capacitance from circuit conductor layout. Such source-follower biasing networks provides high input impedance and extended dynamic range without introducing noise or distortion. The audio frequency amplification circuit is preferably used as the preamplifier stage of a miniature electret microphone of extremely low source capacitance and mounted within the microphone in close proximity to the electret. Such a miniaturized, wide dynamic range microphone is especially adapted for use mounted on acoustic or electric musical instruments.
