摘要： Methods and apparatus for redundancy in machine or process control systems provide redundant communication adapters located with the groups of I/O modules, so that if the first communication adapter faults or becomes unavailable, a second communication adapter will perform all of the necessary functions of the first adapter. The adapters are connected to a multiplexing module for communicating input data from the I/O modules to the communication adapters, for exchanging initialization data with the first communication adapter and the second communication adapter to initialize the redundant mode of operation and for monitoring communication of the first communication adapter and the second communication adapter on the network to start up the second adapter as the primary adapter for communicating both input data and output data with the I/O modules.

摘要： A machine condition assessment module may be integrated with standard industrial control and communications networks to receive dynamic operating data from signal processing engines and optionally process data from controlled machinery and to operate on that data according to standard and user customized rule sets to produce an assessment of the presence and severity of specific electrical and/or mechanical faults. The output of the assessment module will be, for each of the one or more machines monitored, and for each of the one or more faults assessed, a single parameter that indicates the presence and severity of the fault. This data, in turn, may be readily communicated to an industrial controller on the network for use in effecting the control process itself.

摘要： A method and system for testing and protecting the operability of an output module. An output channel includes a transistor having a gate, a source, and a drain. The output channel drives a load with a load voltage and a load current in dependence upon a gate drive signal applied to the gate. The system determines a voltage threshold and a current threshold and monotonically varies the gate drive signal from a starting value for a predetermined time interval while monitoring the load current and the load voltage. The system returns the gate drive signal to the starting value if any of the load voltage reaches the voltage threshold, the load current reaches the current threshold, or a predetermined time interval expires indicating the condition of the output module.

摘要： There is provided a safety switch having a housing configured to receive a removable key, and a mechanism arranged to be operated when the key is moved from an engaged position to a partially disengaged position, the mechanism being arranged to cause a signal to pass to a separate apparatus, wherein the safety switch further comprises a lock which is controlled by the separate apparatus and is arranged to prevent the key from being fully disengaged from the safety switch until a signal has been received in response from the separate apparatus.
