Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for producing a polymerized toner. In the method, a mixture of colloidal silica as an aqueous dispersant and a polyvinylpyrrolidone is used during suspension polymerization. The amount of polyvinylpyrrolidone/colloidal silica aggregates having a diameter smaller than 100 nm is also limited to 1% by weight or less, based on the total weight of all aggregates. A polymerized toner produced by the method has a volume average particle diameter (dv) of 5 to 10 μm and a volume average particle diameter/number average particle diameter ratio (dv/dp) of 1.5 or less. The polymerized toner is consumed in a small amount during printing. According to the method, the formation of emulsion particles having a size smaller than 0.5 μm is inhibited.
Abstract:
A composition for forming column spacers is provided. The composition comprises a radical polymerization inhibitor. The use of the composition enables simultaneous formation of a saturated pattern and a semi-transmissive pattern as column spacer patterns having different shapes, whose difference in thickness is controllable as desired although the sensitivity is slightly reduced, through a slit or semi-transmissive mask by varying the kind and amount of the radical polymerization inhibitor. Further provided are column spacers formed using composition and a liquid crystal display using the column spacers.
Abstract:
A polymerized toner is provided. The polymerized toner has cores containing polyvinylidene fluoride particles. The polyvinylidene fluoride particles have an average particle diameter of 1.1 to 1.5 μm and a melting temperature (Tm) of 140 to 160° C. The polyvinylidene fluoride particles are distributed at a higher concentration near the surface of the cores. This distribution improves the affinity of the cores for silica as an external additive to achieve an increased amount of surface charge and improved transfer efficiency of the polymerized toner. Further provided is a method of producing the polymerized toner.

Provided is a non-magnetic mono-component color toner with improved charge properties by surface modification with a charge control agent. The color toner is prepared by spheroidizing toner core particles including a binder and a colorant in the presence of 0.5 to 3 parts by weight of a charge control agent and coating the resultant spherical toner core particles with a first spherical organic powder with an average particle size of 50 to 120 nm, a second spherical organic powder with an average particle size of 600 to 1,000 nm, silica with an average particle size of 5 to 20 nm, and titanium dioxide with an average particle size of 300 to 1,000 nm. The color toner exhibits excellent surface charge properties (e.g., a narrow charge distribution, high chargeability, and good charge maintenance capability), thereby ensuring low image/background contamination, high transfer efficiency, good image density and long-term stability.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a non-magnetic mono-component toner composition, which comprises a) a non-magnetic toner particle comprising a binding resin comprising a binder resin and a copolymer of a cyclic olefin and an acyclic olefin polymerized in the presence of a metallocene catalyst and a cocatalyst, a colorant, and a charge-control agent; b) fine powder of an organic compound containing fluorine that is added to the surface of the non-magnetic toner particle; and c) hydrophobic silica having a specific surface area of 100 to 240 m2/g. The toner composition of the present invention has superior transfer efficiency and charging properties and thus can obtain a stable image, does not show deteriorated image density, and does not generate background contamination of non-image areas and off-set due to deterioration of fixing properties, even if copying or printing is conducted therewith for a long time use.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a magnetic mono-component toner composition, and more particularly to a mono-component toner composition that comprises magnetic toner particle comprising a binder resin, a magnetic component, and a charge control agent; a hydrophobic treated silica having a specific surface area of 20 to 80 m2/g; a hydrophobic treated silica having a specific surface area of 130 to 230 m2/g; and a metal oxide fine powder. A magnetic mono-component toner composition of the present invention has such good flowability that it provides smooth toner supply even when the developing roller surface has been worn due to long time use, and it has such excellent uniform chargeability that it prevents image deterioration (“wave” patterns of toner may form on developing roller, that is, magnetic sleeve) by forming an uniform toner layer on the developing roller.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a non-magnetic mono-component toner comprising a toner mother particle, and a coating layer formed on the mother particle where the coating layer comprises fatty acid metal salt having average particle size of 0.05 to 3.0 μm, a first organic particle having average particle size of 0.3 to 2.0 μm, a second organic particle having average particle size of 0.05 to 0.25 μm, and silica having average particle size of 0.006 to 0.04 μm. The color toner has narrow charge distribution, high chargeability, a low environmental dependence, and excellent image quality, transfer efficiency, and long-term stability by significantly reducing the contamination of the charging elements.
