A method and apparatus for generating a key code in a coordinate recognition device (video device controller 120) enable key code generation by a single instance of manipulation of a controller (140) by a user, obviating repetitive keypad manipulation and thereby facilitating controller operation. A coordinate recognition (120) device is provided with a touch pad (110) having a touch pattern of a predetermined shape, enabling a touch trajectory to be recognized in a simple manner. The apparatus includes a touch pad (110) having a predetermined touch pattern; a coordinate recognition unit (120) for recognizing coordinate values corresponding to a touch trajectory executed with respect to the touch pad (110), a controller (140) for calculating values of a direction, speed, and distance of the touch trajectory using the recognized coordinate values and for outputting a movement command signal based on the calculated values; and a key code generator (150) for generating a key code corresponding to the movement command signal. The method includes steps of recognizing coordinate values corresponding to a touch trajectory executed with respect to a touch pad (110) having a predetermined touch pattern; calculating a direction, speed, and distance of the touch trajectory using the recognized coordinate values; and generating a movement command signal corresponding to the calculated values, the generated movement command signal corresponding to a specific key code.

Provided are a method and apparatus for transmitting control information and packet data. The method includes generating control channels which transmit the control information; generating control indication channel which indicates whether the control channels are transmitted or not; generating data channels in order to transmit the packet data based on the control information; multiplexing the control channels, the control indication channels, and the data channels; and transmitting the control channels, the control indication channels, and the data channels. According to the present invention, when control information and packet data are transmitted in downlink, by transmitting additional information indicating whether control channels are transmitted or not, resources not actually allocated to control channels can be allocated to data channel and the mobile station can receive data channel using the control indication information.

A system for more effective control and management on remote Integrated Circuit (IC) is disclosed. In order to achieve this, there is provided a system for controlling remote IC using Internet and a method for operating the same, the system includes a network for a manufacturer who manufactures products containing IC and has managing system for managing the products, being connected to each IC using an identification number of IC, respectively; an IC designer network having a corresponding program for IC setup operation that helps the designer to design and sell the IC to the manufacturer; and, a relay service company network having a plurality of manufacturer network and a plurality of IC designer network connected to on-line, and a corresponding URL (Uniform Resource Locator) data of each IC designer network that enables the relay service company to connect to a corresponding IC designer network whenever there is a data request from a manufacturer network and to exchange data each other.

A remote controller, a remote controller information providing system, and a method for operating the same are disclosed, whereby controller information for various electronic apparatuses are upgraded just by downloading simple remote controller information regardless of an electronic apparatus, kinds, manufacture companies, model names, and availability in the market. The system includes a data base for storing remote controller information to various manufacture companies, kinds, and models; and a server for operating an Internet site which obtains remote controller information provided from manufacture companies of each electronic apparatus, stores them in a data base, and provides remote controller information according to a user's request. Multiple electronic apparatuses are controlled with one remote controller. Products which will become available later is controllable by simply downloading data. No temporal and economical inconvenience exist for a user to maintain a number of remote controllers.

An automatic channel memory and selection method for a TV set for automatically memorizing each channel having a broadcast signal with a single input of an automatic channel set-up key regardless of a wireless broadcast mode or a cablecast mode, and sequentially increasing or decreasing the memorized channels regardless of whether a wireless broadcast channel or a cablecast channel is presently selected whenever a signal from a channel increase/decrease key is inputted and, in a case where a viewer directly inputs a desired number by using a number key, for distinguishing whether the inputted channel number belongs to a wireless broadcast channel or a cablecast channel and then outputting corresponding tuning data, whereby anyone can easily select a desired channel between the wireless broadcast channels and the cablecast channels and use of a broadcast mode selection key of a remote control is not necessary, whereby the production cost of a TV set can be reduced.

There is disclosed a node booting method in a high-speed parallel computer. Other than the method in which the system using a conventional network down loads the operating system kernel image from the boot server, the method according to the present invention provides an environment by which a boot can be progressed in parallel and a boot progress state can be monitored through a console terminal, thus improving a boot speed. The node booting method according to the present invention is comprised of a first step of finding a logical boot path using a node construction table managed by a firmware; a second step of determining boot subject nodes so that copy of an operating system kernel image can be made simultaneously; a third step of copying effective portions of the operating system loaded at the memories onto the subject nodes; a fourth step of informing a boot node of the node state and to display the boot progress state on a console terminal at the start and end time of the booting; and a fifth step of simultaneously starting execution at the remaining portions of the copied operating system when the kernel image are completely copied onto all the nodes.
