Abstract:
An electric motor includes a stator operable to produce a magnetic field and defining an opening, and a rotor at least partially disposed within the opening. The rotor includes a shaft extending along a rotational axis, a first rotor magnetic core portion including a plurality of laminations stacked contiguously on the shaft, and a second rotor magnetic core portion coupled to the plurality of laminations. The first rotor magnetic core portion and the second rotor magnetic core portion cooperate to define the rotor magnetic core. A plurality of windings is coupled to the rotor magnetic core and an air flow path is formed as part of the second rotor magnetic core portion. The air flow path includes an axial portion that passes through the shaft axially along the rotational axis and a radial portion that extends radially outward through the second rotor magnetic core portion.
Abstract:
A direct current fastening device and related control methods. The fastening device is powered by a direct current power source and includes a variety of safety and control features that allow the fastening device to be safety operated without, for example, a mechanical safety linkage or assembly between a trigger and a fastener firing portion (e.g., a nose switch) that prohibits the operation of the fastening device. Rather, the fastening device described herein employs a controller, a variety of switches, and monitoring techniques to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the fastening device. The configuration of the controller, for example, replaces the mechanical linkages and assemblies between the trigger and the fastener firing portion (e.g., a nose switch) that are ubiquitous safety features for such fastening devices.
Abstract:
A door lock installation kit for use with a first standard door width and a second standard door width, each door having a side face and a front face includes a side hole guide including a side hole aperture arranged to abut the side face of the door, a guide housing movably coupled to the side hole guide, and a back housing movably coupled to the side hole guide and arranged such that the back housing and the guide housing are movable to clamp the door and position the guide housing to abut the front face of the door. A front hole guide includes a front hole guide aperture and is movably coupled to the guide housing and movable to one of a first position corresponding to a first door backset and a second position corresponding to a second door backset.
Abstract:
A power tool assembly includes a hand-held power tool and a dust collector. The dust collector includes a housing removably coupled to the power tool, a telescoping suction pipe coupled to the housing, an electric motor positioned in the housing, a suction fan driven by the electric motor and operable to generate a vacuum in the suction pipe, and a dust container coupled to the housing. The dust container is positioned upstream of the suction fan. The power tool assembly further includes first and second power tool battery packs each of which is interchangeably coupled with the power tool and the dust collector for separately powering the power tool and the dust collector, respectively.
Abstract:
A power tool includes a tool handle and a tool head. The tool handle includes a housing having a grip portion and defining a longitudinal axis, a motor disposed within the housing and including a drive shaft having an axis of rotation substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis, a trigger positioned adjacent the grip portion for selectively activating the motor, and a handle interface. The tool head is selectively coupleable to the tool handle and includes a head interface for coupling with the handle interface of the tool handle, a transmission driven by the drive shaft of the motor when the tool head is coupled to the tool handle, and an output member coupled to the transmission. The output member defines an axis generally perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the drive shaft.
Abstract:
A miter saw includes a base having a peripheral wall, a table rotatably supported upon the base, and a miter angle lock. The miter angle lock includes a wear plate having a distal end engageable with the peripheral wall of the base and a cam member that moves between a locked position in which the cam member presses the distal end of the wear plate against the peripheral wall of the base for locking the table relative to the base, and an unlocked position in which the cam member is spaced from the distal end of the wear plate.
Abstract:
A powered fastener driver includes a cylinder and a drive piston within the cylinder being acted on by a driving force resulting from a pressure differential. The powered fastener further includes a drive blade coupled to the drive piston and operable to drive a fastener, and an adjustable valve for selectively introducing air from ambient atmosphere into the cylinder, thereby changing the pressure differential acting on the drive piston. By adopting a self-contained vacuum generating means as described above, the present invention does not rely on any external vacuum source and powered fastener driver can be used and carried with conveniently.

A door lock installation tool for use with a first standard door width and a second standard door width. Each door has a side face, a rear face, and a front face. The tool includes a side hole guide including a side hole aperture arranged to abut the side face of the door and a guide housing movably coupled to the side hole guide. The tool further includes a back housing movably coupled to the side hole guide and arranged such that the back housing and the guide housing are each movable to either a first position with respect to the side hole guide to clamp the door having the first standard width to center the side hole aperture between the rear face and the front face, and a second position with respect to the side hole guide to clamp the door having the second standard width and to center the side hole aperture between the rear face and the front face. The back housing and the guide housing each slide linearly between the first position and the second position. The tool further includes a front hole guide including a front hole guide aperture. The front hole guide is movably coupled to the guide housing and movable to one of a first position corresponding to a first door backset and a second position corresponding to a second door backset.
Abstract:
An accessory (100, 200, 600, 700) for an electric drill (112, 612) is disclosed as including a dust box (118, 218, 618, 702) for receiving abraded materials produced by an electric drill on a workpiece, the dust box including an internal cavity, a first longitudinal end (116, 216, 616) with a first opening (130a, 632a) communicating with the internal cavity, an opposite second longitudinal end with a second opening (120a, 618a) communicating with the internal cavity, and a brush (128) or a disc (628), and when a drill bit (114, 614) of the electric drill is received into the internal cavity of the dust box through the second opening, the brush or disc is releasably engageable with the drill bit for simultaneous rotational movement about a longitudinal axis of the drill bit.
