Abstract:
A system comprises a generator and an engine coupled thereto. The engine is configured to provide mechanical power to the generator. A controller is coupled to the engine and the generator and is configured to compare an engine operating parameter value to a load demand value indicative of a load exerted by the generator on the engine. The controller determines that the engine operating parameter value fails to match the load demand value. The controller determines an engine operating parameter threshold value at which the engine operating parameter value failed to match the load demand value, and sets the engine operating parameter threshold value as a maximum allowable engine operating parameter value for the engine.
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a sensor module, an offset diagnostic module, and a notification module. The sensor module is in operative communication with a cylinder pressure sensor and structured to acquire cylinder pressure data from the cylinder pressure sensor indicative of an actual in-cylinder pressure of a cylinder of an engine. The offset diagnostic module is structured to interpret the cylinder pressure data to determine an offset of the cylinder pressure sensor based on a reference in-cylinder pressure and the actual in-cylinder pressure. The notification module is structured to provide an offset error notification responsive to the offset being greater than a threshold offset.
Abstract:
A system for controlling one or more conditions associated with combustion events in one or more cylinders of an engine while generally maintaining a spark timing value at a relatively constant value. The system includes a controller configured to determine one or more temporary adjustments to the spark timing value that brings one or more conditions, such as, for example, engine knock levels and/or NOx levels to around, or within, a corresponding target or threshold level(s). Following selection and implementation of one of the adjustments to the spark timing value, the controller implement adjustments to the adjusted spark timing value to return to a target spark timing value. The controller can further be adapted to determine adjustments to the air-to-fuel ratio to accommodate operation of the engine at the target spark timing value while maintaining the one or more conditions at or below the corresponding threshold or target level(s).
