摘要： Addition of 0.1 to 1.5 percent by weight of wax oxidates to a diesel fuel is found to reduce the amount of soot and invisible particles produced when the fuel is used in a diesel engine. The wax oxidates act synergistically with fuel-soluble organometallic compounds such as alkyl cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl complex salts in reducing particulates. The wax oxidates used have a ratio of Neutralization Number to Saponification Number below about 0.40 and a Saybolt Universal Viscosity at 210.degree. F. higher than 1600.

摘要： A low pour point residual fuel oil composition is prepared from a major amount of a high pour point, low sulfur, waxy, residual fuel and a minor amount of a low wax, low pour, residual fuel oil by adding thereto from 0.01 to 0.5% by weight of an oil soluble terpolymer such as vinyl acetate-ethylene-propylene or butylene or a graft copolymer in which propylene or butylene is grafted onto an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer backbone or basic chain, having preferably, a number average molecular weight of about 12,000 to about 60,000. In another aspect, this invention relates to a process for the pipeline transportation of the low pour residual fuel oil compositions previously described.

摘要： A low pour crude oil composition is prepared by incorporating into a waxy crude oil an effective pour depressant amount of an oil-soluble terpolymer, such as a vinyl acetate-ethylene-methacrylic or acrylic acid ester terpolymer. The terpolymer may be added with mixing directly to the heated crude or in hydrocarbon solution such as a solution of the terpolymer in a middle distillate or kerosene. In another aspect, this invention relates to a process for the pipeline transportation of the low pour point crude oil composition previously described.

摘要： Lubricating oil compositions having substantially reduced pour points are prepared by incorporating an effective pour depressant amount of an oil-soluble copolymer of ethylene and a vinyl ester of a lower saturated monobasic aliphatic carboxylic acid in a paraffinic, waxy-type, residual lubricating oil base stock. The copolymers, in which the lower saturated monobasic carboxylic component of the ester has from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, have molecular weights of about 16,000 to about 31,000 and which contain about 17 to about 42 weight percent of the vinyl ester, can be added to the lubricating base stock in the form of an emulsion, as a hydrocarbon solution or in any other convenient manner.
