Abstract:
A shifting tool is run on slickline and has an on board power supply. Rotary motion of the motor is converted to linear motion of the shifting tool using a ball screw device. The grip is obtained with longitudinal motion of a grip linkage and an on board jar then can do the shifting. Alternatively a linear motor can be used to extend and retract the grip assembly and shift using the jar tool. Optionally the tool can be anchored and linear motion from the on board power source operating a motor can do the shifting.
Abstract:
A bottom hole assembly is run into the wellbore on slickline with a tractor to assist in movement of the bottom hole assembly through a deviation in either direction. The tractor can have retractable drive components and can be responsive to tension in the slickline to turn it on and to avoid overrunning the slickline if driving out.
Abstract:
An abrasive slurry tool, the tool being attachable to a running string, the tool including a high-pressure assembly, the assembly including a nozzle assembly; and a low-pressure assembly in abrasive fluid communication with the high-pressure assembly, the low-pressure assembly comprising a low pressure holding tank configured to carry recharge abrasive fluid with the tool and method.
Abstract:
A liner hanger has a housing with a pocket disposed on an inner wall surface and a slip slidingly engaged within the pocket. The liner hanger housing is secured in the string of casing. A setting mechanism connected to the slips is also located in the pocket. An actuator is mounted on the liner. As the liner is moved through the casing coupler, the actuator actuates the setting mechanism, causing the slips to move axially downward. As the setting mechanism moves downward, the slips move radially inward and grip the liner.
Abstract:
Downhole fluid jet cutting tools having extendible and retractable arms with cutting heads on the ends are disclosed. The jet cutting tools permit casing and other downhole surfaces to be cut utilizing a cutting fluid forced through a jet nozzle assembly. Inflation of an inflatable member within the passageway of the tool moves the jet nozzle assembly when cutting fluid pressure inflates the inflatable member. As a result, a cutting head of the jet nozzle assembly is extended and cutting fluid is forced at high pressure from the passageway to the cutting head where it is expelled through nozzles for cutting casing and the like. The jet cutting tools permit the cutting head to be extended, retracted, and re-extended or redeployed multiple times without the need for being retrieved from the wellbore.
Abstract:
A liner hanger has a housing with a pocket disposed on an inner wall surface and a slip slidingly engaged within the pocket. The liner hanger housing is secured in the string of casing. Both a setting mechanism and a liner engagement member are connected to the slips and are also located in the pocket. A releasable latching mechanism maintains the slips in the run-in position until the releasable latching mechanism is actuated. As the liner is moved through the casing coupler, the liner engagement member engages the liner through frictional force to cause the setting mechanism to move with the liner so that the latching mechanism can be disengaged and the slips can move axially downward. As the setting mechanism moves downward, the slips move radially inward and grip the liner.
Abstract:
Devices and methods for translating tubulars within a wellbore and, as a result, effectively freeing a stuck tubular string within a wellbore. One or more vibrator devices are incorporated into a tubular string, such as a drill string. Each of the vibratory devices may be turned on or off independently, as needed, to help effectively free the tubular string from a stuck condition.

Downhole fluid jet cutting tools having extendible and retractable arms with cutting heads on the ends are disclosed. The jet cutting tools permit casing and other downhole surfaces to be cut utilizing a cutting fluid forced through a jet nozzle assembly. Movement of a piston slidingly engaged within the passageway of the tool actuates the arms when cutting fluid pressure acts on the piston. As a result, the arms are extended and cutting fluid is forced at high pressure from the passageway to the cutting head where it is expelled through nozzles for cutting casing and the like. The jet cutting tools permit the arms to be extended, retracted, and re-extended or redeployed multiple times without the need for being retrieved from the wellbore.
Abstract:
A one trip system for expanding a tubular that is solid or perforated or a screen comprises a downhole assembly that features a hydraulic anchor that can be set, released and repositioned to repeat the process. The anchor is small enough to go through the tubular or screen after initial expansion. The anchor's maximum extension is designed to avoid overstressing the already expanded tubular or screen. An expansion tool is hydraulically driven with the initial portion of the stroke delivering an enhanced force. The expansion tool initially supports the tubular or liner but subsequently releases during the first stroke, after the tubular or screen is fully supported.
Abstract:
A method of repairing tubulars downhole is described. A swage is secured to a force magnification tool, which is, in turn, supported by an anchor tool. Applied pressure sets the anchor when the swage is properly positioned. The force magnification tool strokes the swage through the collapsed section. The anchor can be released and weight set down on the swage to permit multiple stroking to get through the collapsed area. The swage diameter can be varied.
