摘要: A shifting tool for use in displacing a component of a well tool can include an inner mandrel, at least one shifting key, at least one reset dog, and a retraction sleeve. The shifting key retracts relative to the inner mandrel in response to displacement of the retraction sleeve relative to the shifting key, and the reset dog extends relative to the inner mandrel in response to displacement of the inner mandrel relative to the reset dog. A method of operating a shifting tool can include engaging the shifting tool with a component of a well tool in a well, and applying a force from the shifting tool to the well tool component, thereby causing one or more reset dogs to extend into engagement with the well tool component.

摘要: A well system having primary and secondary wellbores wherein a completion sleeve is positioned in the primary wellbore and defines a window aligned with a primary wellbore casing exit and upper and lower couplings defined on opposing axial ends of the window. An isolation sleeve is positioned within the completion sleeve and defines a helical slot. The isolation sleeve is movable between a first position, where a engagement device engages the upper coupling and the isolation sleeve occludes the window, and a second position, where the isolation sleeve is moved axially within completion sleeve to expose the window and the engagement device engages the lower coupling. A whipstock assembly includes a latch key that selectively locates and engages an inner profile of the isolation sleeve to move the isolation sleeve to the second position. An orienting key mates with the helical slot to angularly orient the whipstock assembly.

摘要: Apparatus, in the form of a eutectic alloy plug (1) and a deployment heater (10) are provided. The plug (1) and the deployment heated (10) are provided with means (5, 13) for releasably retaining the deployment heater (10) within a cavity (4) in the plug (1). The nature of the retaining means is such that once the plug (1) is secured in a well the heater (10) can be recovered without the plug (1). An extraction heater (20), which is also receivable within the cavity (4) of the plug (1), is provided to re-melt the eutectic alloy and thus enable the extraction of the plug from a well. Various method of plugging abandoned wells are made possible by the control that the provided apparatus gives.

摘要: A string from the surface is connected to a packer extension with a thread to provide a metal to metal seal for production or injection through the packer. The thread provides a metal to metal seal. The initial string is released from the packer extension by a tubular cut made with a cutting tool above the thread that provides the metal to metal seal to the packer extension. An outer sleeve surrounds an expanded length of wall which is the target cut zone above the threaded connection. A cut through the tubular does not cut the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve features a left handed square thread to engage a known released tool run in on a string to connect to the packer release mechanism and release the packer for removal with the release tool suspended from a string.

摘要: A shifting tool for use in shifting axial position of a shiftable element in a well. The tool comprises a linkage mechanism configured to translate an independent axial force into a dedicated radial force applied to expansive elements thereof. Thus, the elements may radially expand into engagement with the shiftable element free of any substantial axial force imparted thereon. As such, a more discretely controllable shifting actuation may be attained, for example, as directed from an oilfield surface. Indeed, real-time intelligent feedback may also be made available through use of such elements in conjunction with the noted linkage mechanism.

The flow control assembly is disposed along the tubing string and comprises a flow control valve and a motor to control the operational position of the flow control valve. The flow control valve may comprise a plunger and a seal system to provide a seal between the plunger and a surrounding structure. Additionally, the flow control valve comprises a pressure balanced system. The pressure balanced system serves to balance pressure acting on the plunger such that the motor is able to move the plunger by simply overcoming friction of the seal system without overcoming a pressure differential otherwise acting on the plunger.
