Abstract: In aspects of dedicated user equipment beam search for fifth generation new radio, a mobile communication device includes a first radio frequency transceiver, a second radio frequency transceiver, and a processor and memory system to implement a beamforming manager application that transmits a beam search request to a base station using the first radio frequency transceiver, receives a beam search notification from the base station, evaluates cell-specific reference signals included in beam search transmissions to select a beam to use for a 5G NR communication link and transmits an indication of the selected beam to the base station using the first radio transceiver, the transmission being effective to cause the base station to establish the 5G NR communication link with the mobile communication device using the selected beam.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for beamforming enhancement via strategic resource utilization. In some aspects, an air interface resource is used for exchanging wireless communications using one or more signal beams. In some implementations, end-user devices are classified into a beamforming state—such as active, idle, or inactive—based on an activity level with a base station. To facilitate antenna beamforming between the base station and an end-user device, opportunities for beamforming training are provided by strategically granting resource units based on one or more resource allocation rules. For example, both control and data information can be allocated together on the same frequencies for each end-user device. Also, an uplink or a downlink grant can be provided that precedes a downlink or an uplink allocation, respectively. In some implementations, the resource allocation rules are applied based on the beamforming state to which an end-user device has been classified.

Abstract: The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for interleaving radio access technologies. In some aspects, the systems include a user device with a first wireless connection of a first RAT and a second wireless connection of a second RAT. The user device receives a coordinated uplink schedule for transmitting via the first wireless connection and the second wireless connection. The user device transmits a first portion of data during a data frame via the first wireless connection. According to the coordinated uplink schedule, the transmission of the first portion of data is interrupted, by the user device, to transmit a signal via the second wireless connection of the second RAT. The user device may then resume transmitting the data frame by transmitting a second portion of the data frame via the first wireless connection.

Abstract: A method includes receiving a grant request message over a first uplink channel from a user equipment (UE) device requesting permission to operate on a second uplink channel within a Citizens Broadband Radio Services (CBRS) spectrum band. The UE device supports carrier aggregation of the first and second uplink channels. The method also includes determining whether operating the UE device on the second uplink channel at the corresponding maximum transmit power will cause impermissible interference within the CBRS spectrum band. When operating the UE device on the second uplink channel at the maximum transmit power will not cause impermissible interference, the method includes granting permission for the UE device to operate on the second uplink channel at the maximum transmit power.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described for user equipment-coordination set, UECS, hybrid automatic repeat request, HARQ, that establish a HARQ timeline that is specific to the capabilities of a respective UECS. Compared to a single user equipment, UE, the HARQ timeline for a UECS depends on a number of factors, such as the joint processing capability in the UECS, latency of communication over a local wireless network between the UEs in the UECS, or the like. Based on its capabilities, the UECS can request uplink and/or downlink processing delay times or a UECS-specific HARQ timeline from a base station. The base station grants the uplink and/or downlink processing delay times or the UECS-specific HARQ timeline to the UECS in a layer-1, layer-2, or a layer-3 control message. The use of a UECS-specific HARQ timeline increases the reliability of HARQ signaling for uplink and downlink communication between the UECS and a base station.

Abstract: The techniques described in this disclosure enhance the reception of the information at a user equipment (UE) from an Active Coordination Set (ACS) of a wireless network system, where the ACS includes a set of base stations that jointly operate to communicate data between the system and the UE. The ACS allocates respective subsets of a plurality of time domain resources for use by corresponding ACS base stations in communicating with the UE, and provides, to the UE, an indication of the allocations. Based on the received allocation indication (502), the UE obtains data payload transmitted by the ACS (508) by tuning to various base stations in accordance with their respective time domain resource allocations (505). The ACS may redundantly transmit selected data payload and/or employ different encoding schemes to further enhance reception of information at the UE.

Abstract: Techniques and apparatuses are described for deep neural network (DNN) processing for a user equipment-coordination set (UECS). A network entity selects (910) an end-to-end (E2E) machine-learning (ML) configuration that forms an E2E DNN for processing UECS communications. The network entity directs (915) each device of multiple devices participating in an UECS to form, using at least a portion of the E2E ML configuration, a respective sub-DNN of the E2E DNN that transfers the UECS communications through the E2E communication, where the multiple devices include at least one base station, a coordinating user equipment (UE), and at least one additional UE. The network entity receives (940) feedback associated with the UECS communications and identifies (945) an adjustment to the E2E ML configuration. The network entity then directs at least some of the multiple devices participating in an UECS to update the respective sub-DNN of the E2E DNN based on the adjustment.

Abstract: This document describes methods, devices, systems, and means for dynamic carrier subband operation for active coordination sets. A master base station selects a first carrier subband associated with a first Active Coordination Set (ACS) for joint communication with a user equipment (UE), coordinates the joint communication for the UE with other base stations in the first ACS, and monitors the joint communication with the UE. Based on the monitoring of the joint communication, the master base station selects a second carrier subband that is associated with a second ACS for the joint communication with the UE and coordinates with base stations associated with the second ACS to jointly communicate with the UE using the second carrier subband.
