Abstract: Some demonstrative embodiments include apparatuses, systems and/or methods of negotiating a range measurement protocol. For example, an initiator station may be configured to transmit a negotiation request message to a responder station and receive a negotiation response message from the responder station to negotiate a range measurement protocol to perform a range measurement procedure with the responder station, the negotiation request message including an initiator protocol element including an indication of one or more initiator range measurement protocols supported by the initiator station, the negotiation response message including a compatibility indication to indicate whether or not at least one of the initiator range measurement protocols is compatible with at least one responder range measurement protocol supported by the responder station; and based on the compatibility indication, select to perform the range measurement procedure with the responder station or to abort communication with the responder station.

Abstract: The application layer of a first wireless device may be configured to receive a ranging request indication from a MAC layer of the first wireless device, determine whether the MAC layer should respond to the ranging request, and send a ranging response to the MAC layer with an indication of whether to respond to the ranging request. The MAC layer may be configured to decode a ranging set-up request from a second wireless device, where the ranging set-up request comprises time slots. If an auto-response is set to false, send a ranging request indication to the application layer and receive from the application layer a ranging response, and if the auto-response is set to true or the ranging response indicates the MAC layer should respond to the ranging set-up request, select a time slot, and encode a ranging response with an indication of the selected time slot.

Abstract: The disclosure provides some embodiments for securing long training field (LTF) sequence. A responding station (RSTA) configures a location management report (LMR) frame. The LMR frame is configured to include an LMR in respect of a previous measurement, and data to be used to generate a null data packet (NDP) for a current measurement that is to be performed following the previous measurement. The RSTA further encrypts the LMR frame using protected management frames (PMF) scheme, and transmits the encrypted LMR frame to an initiating station (ISTA) for generating an LTF sequence for the current measurement. In response to receiving an NDP announcement (NDPA) and an NDP for the current measurement from the ISTA, the RSTA generates an NDP for the current measurement based on the NDPA and the data using CCMP, and transmits the NDP to the ISTA.

Abstract: Embodiments of a station (STA) and method for ranging in accordance with Neighborhood Awareness Network (NAN) communication are generally described herein. An initiator STA may determine, for a data service that is to be established between the initiator STA and a responder STA on a NAN data link, whether a ranging procedure is to be performed for the data service. As part of the ranging procedure, range measurements or fine timing may be determined. When the ranging procedure is to be performed for the data service, ranging configuration parameters may be included in data request messages, publish messages and other messages sent by the STAs 103. In some cases, the STAs 103 may refrain from exchanging separate messages for communication of ranging information.

Abstract: The disclosure generally relates FTM measurements using a network of Access Points (APs) and FTM Responders to provide proximity information to an inquiring mobile device. In one embodiment, the disclosure provides significant power conservation by allowing an AP to communicate with the user equipment (e.g., mobile device). The AP can relay information about availability of an FTM Responder to the user equipment thereby directing the user equipment to transmit its FTM Request directly to the FTM Responder during the Responder's availability window. The disclosed embodiment enable significant power conservation for the FTM Responder thereby extending the battery life of the Responder.
