摘要： A system and method for identifying users dropped from a conference call and rejoining the user to the call upon reconnection. Users can participate in the conference by connecting through different types of networks using a device having one or more types of communication lines. When a user is disconnected before the end of the conference (due to a bad mobile phone connection, for example), a bookmark is placed in the recording indicating the disconnection point. When the user rejoins the conference, the user is given the option to begin listening to the conference at the point where the user was disconnected. The user can issue playback-type requests, such as play, rewind, fast forward, etc., to review missed information. Other users are alerted by a characteristic tone when a user disconnects from the conference and by another characteristic tone when the disconnected user rejoins the conference.

摘要： Automated personal video recording comprising scheduling a show for a user having allocated storage space on a personal video recorder (nullPVRnull), wherein the show has a storage space requirement that exceeds the user's free space, and the PVR is coupled for data communications to a storage space provider; and transmitting to the storage space provider an order to record the show through the storage space provider in storage space on a remote PVR that is coupled for data communications to the storage space provider. Receiving in a storage space provider from a personal video recorder (nullPVRnull) an order to record a show on a remote PVR, the order comprising an identification of a show and a schedule for recording the show; selecting a remote PVR; and recording the show, in dependence upon the show identification and the schedule for recording the show, in storage space on the selected remote PVR.

摘要： A system and method for mining data from stored telephone conversations is provided. Users request advanced data processing on the recorded data, either on the live data stream or the data in storage. Processes search the recorded data for keywords and phrases that the user provides the PTR. User can also request more sophisticated analysis of the recorded data for deeper contextual meaning of the conversations. Context information may include identifying the users, the locations and times referred to by the users during the conference, etc. Additional searches related to the obtained information are performed and the extracted information is compared to similar information obtained from previous meetings. Voice inflections and any emotional stress present in the voices of the users can also be detected and added to the collected information. Search terms can also be highlighted in the results.

摘要： A system and method is provided that matches user interests to commercials. The commercials are stored on the user's digital video recorder and retrieved during program commercial breaks. The DVR service provider sends an edit schedule, commercials and metadata describing the commercials to the user's digital video recorder. The commercials are provided to the DVR service provider by sponsors, such as product advertisers and the like. In one embodiment, commercials are selected by the user's digital video recorder and the selected commercials are played during a commercial break. In another embodiment, the DVR service provider inserts commercial identifiers in the edit schedule's commercial breaks. Demographic and usage data is gathered by the digital video recorder indicating which commercials have been played or recorded. The DVR service provider creates reports for sponsors showing which commercials were watched or recorded by different groups of people.

The content of a communication and the reaction responses to a communication provide the context for a communication. Varying portions of the content of a communication are analyzed to identify a particular reaction response associated with each of the varying portions of content. During a display of the content of the communication, a color within any of the varying portions indicates the associated reaction response. A reaction response may indicate a sender's intended response or an anticipated or actual response of a recipient. The colors may be added to a proposed communication and edited by a sender to achieve a particular desired response.
