    摘要: Optical discs are adapted to be used with a light beam having a wavelength of 405 nm for recording or reproducing data. Error correcting blocks for recording BMID including copy protection key information are defined on optical discs (1) dedicated to data reproduction. A data string of BMID to be recorded has 64 bytes. An error correcting block is constituted by 304 columns of error correcting code words (LDC). A BMID data string of 64 bytes is inserted to predetermined 64 error correcting code words (LDC) of a block (304 columns of error correcting code words). The total code length of the predetermined 64 error correcting code words (LDC) is 248 bytes, of which a predetermined byte (symbol) is replaced by a predetermined byte (symbol) of the BMID data string.

    摘要: In step S1, the address generator generates address information composed of a sync signal which is recorded on an optical disc, address data and an error correction code for the address data, pre-encodes and supplies it to a modulator. At the same time, a carrier signal generator generates a carrier signal which is to carry the address information, and supplies it to the modulator. In step S2, the modulator makes MSK modulation of the carrier signal supplied from the carrier signal generator on the basis of the pre-encoded address information supplied from the address generator, and supplies a resultant MSK modulation signal to a wobbling unit. In step S3, the wobbling unit forms, on the optical disc, a spiral groove wobbled adaptively to the MSK modulation signal supplied from the modulator. In this optical disc, a given address can be accessed quickly and accurately.

Recording data is arranged in an error correction encoding block and the error correcting process is performed. The data of each sector is recorded subsequent to the header. Upon reproduction, the header is detected and the data is reproduced for every sector. One of the error correcting processes is performed in the reproduced data in the sectors S1, S2, S3, . . . . In the case where errors cannot be corrected by the error correcting process in the reproduced data in the sector, the error correction block including the sectors S1, S2, S3, . . . is reproduced and the error correcting processes are performed in the sequences in two directions.

    摘要: A system for encoding a binary digital information signal comprised of 8-bit information words occurring within a frequency band to produce an encoded binary digital information signal comprised of 17-bit channel words formed of 14-bit information words and 3-bit separation words and with the encoded signal satisfying the d- and k-constraint rules, reducing DC imbalance and having substantially reduced components thereof in a predetermined undesirable lower frequency range of the frequency band, the system converting each 8-bit information word into a 14-bit information word; generating a set of four possible 3-bit separation words for use each 14-bit information word which satisfy the d- and k-constraint rules; determining an integrating transfer function characteristic having a high gain with respect to the predetermined frequency range; obtaining a step response by modifying each 14-bit information word and each respective possible 3-bit separation word by the integrating transfer function characteristic; evaluating the step response for a predetermined number of 14-bit information words and respective possible 3-bit separation words, either separately for each word or at the end of each possible 17-bit channel word, to obtain values including information with respect to the predetermined frequency range; selecting the possible 3-bit separation word for each 14-bit information corresponding to a respective one of the values which is closest to zero; and adding each selected 3-bit separation word to each respective 14-bit information word to produce a plurality of 17-bit channel words which form the encoded binary digital information signal.

    摘要: First error-processing data are generated with respect to a predetermined amount of data, and second error-processing data are generated with respect to each of a plurality of blocks produced by dividing the predetermined amount of data. Data of record units are generated from the predetermined amount of data, the first error-processing data, and the second error-processing data. The data of record units are recorded on and reproduced from a recording medium. Errors are corrected in the predetermined amount of data in the reproduced data of record units with the first error-processing data with respect to each of the record units. If errors cannot be corrected, at least errors are detected in the predetermined amount of data in each of the blocks with the second error-processing data. If errors are detected in N (N is a positive integer) successive blocks, all data in at least one block which is not positioned at an end of the N successive blocks are regarded as being erased, thereby correcting errors in the predetermined amount of data in the record units with the first error-processing data, thus producing reproduced data.
