    摘要： A composition useful for molding into articles such as food containers, soft drink bottles, cured structural plastics and the like, comprising molding grade linear or unsaturated polyester or polycarbonate having reacted or copolymerized therein the residue of one or a mixture of styrylbenzazole reactants of the formula: ##STR1## wherein A is the residue of a benzene ring of a benzoxazole, benzothiazole or benzionidazole radical; X is --O--, --S-- or --N(R.sup.2)--; Ph is a phenylene radical; and R.sup.1 is halogen or --Y--R.sup.2 in which Y is --O-- or --N(R.sup.2)-- and each R.sup.2 is hydrogen, alkenyl or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical.

    摘要： Composition useful for molding into articles such as food containers, beverage bottles, cured structural plastics and the like comprising molding grade linear or unsaturaged polyester or polycarbonate having reacted therewith or copolymerized therein the residue of one or more benzodioxylmethine compounds having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is cyano, carboxy, alkenyloxycarbonyl or an unsubstituted or substituted alkoxycarbonyl, cycloalkoxycarbonyl or aryloxycarbonyl radical;R.sup.2 is one of the groups specified for R.sup.1 or an unsubstituted or substituted aryl, carbamoyl, alkanoyl, cycloalkanoyl, aroyl, alkylsulfonyl, cycloalkylsulfonyl, arylsulfonyl or heterocyclic aryl radical;R.sup.3 is hydrogen or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical;R.sup.4 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, or halogen;n is 1 or 2; andX is an unsubstituted or substituted methylene or ethylene radical; provided the benzodioxolylmethine compound bears at least one substituent that is reactive with one of the monomers from which the condensation polymer is derived, said benzodioxylmethine residue absorbing radiation in the range of about 250 nm to 390 nm and being nonextractable from said polymer and stable under polymer processing conditions.The benzodioxylmethine residues are present in the polymer as an integral part of the polymer chain and absorb ultraviolet radiation in the range of about 250 to about 390 nm. The residues are nonextractable from the polymer and stable at the conditions at which the polymers are manufactured and processed.

    摘要： Colored shapable polyesters having copolymerized therein lignin or lignin derivatives are prepared by condensing the lignin or lignin derivatives into the polyester backbone during the polymerization reaction. The lignin moieties are thermally stable at the polymer processing temperatures and are nonextractable from the polyester backbone. These colored, shapable polyesters are particularly suitable for use in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic container applications.

    摘要： The invention relates to melamine group containing compounds which have been found to be effective ultraviolet stabilizers. The invention also relates to ultraviolet degradable organic compositions containing an amount of a melamine group containing compounds to prevent such degradation. These stabilizers are effective in the presence of other additives commonly employed in polymeric compositions including, for example, pigments, colorants, fillers, reinforcing agents and the like. These ultraviolet stabilizers may be incorporated into the organic compositions such as polymers by adding to the polymer melt or dissolved in the polymer dope, coated on the exterior of the shaped or molded article, film or extruded fiber.
