    摘要: An implantable medical device system includes an implanted device communicating with an external device via telemetry. The implanted device and the external device each have a telemetry module connected to an antenna system to support a radio-frequency (RF) telemetry link. The antenna system of the external device has a manually or automatically controllable directionality. The controllable directionality is achieved, for example, by using two or more directional antennas, one non-directional antenna and one or more directional antennas, or an electronically steerable phased-array directional antenna.

    摘要: A timing circuit especially designed for use in implantable medical devices provides both a low frequency clock and a high frequency clock. The low frequency clock and high frequency clock are compared each time the oscillator producing the high frequency clock is enabled and the result of the comparison is used to retrim the high frequency oscillator to maintain a stable output frequency, even when subjected to drift. Additional circuitry is provided for signaling an oscillator fault in the event that an error signal resulting from the comparison of the low frequency clock with the high frequency clock exceeds a predetermined limit value. Digital trim values are stored for fast and controlled oscillator start-up.

    摘要: One embodiment of the present invention relates to an implantable medical device (“IMD”) that can be programmed from one operational mode to another operational mode when in the presence of electro-magnetic interference (“EMI”). In accordance with this particular embodiment, the IMD includes a communication interface for receiving communication signals from an external device, such as a command to switch the IMD from a first operation mode to a second operation mode. The IMD further includes a processor in electrical communication with the communication interface, which is operable to switch or reprogram the IMD from the first operation mode to the second operation mode upon receiving a command to do so. In addition, the IMD includes a timer operable to measure a time period from when the processor switches the IMD to the second operation mode. In accordance with this aspect of the invention, the processor is in electrical communication with the timer, and is further operable to switch the IMD from the second operation mode back to the first operation mode when the measured time period reaches a predetermined time period.
