摘要: A method for power management in an electro-mechanical power-split infinitely variable transmission (eVT) designed to operated within a designated speed ratio range for vehicular applications. The eVT is comprised of an input shaft coupled to the output shaft of a drive engine to receive power, a drive shaft, two electric machines, and a pair of planetary trains each having a sun member, a ring member, a set of planetary members, and a planet carrier. The eVT further contains one or more torque transfer devices to connect or disconnect members of the planetary trains for transferring torque. The drive shaft is coupled with a final drive of a vehicle for delivering or recapturing power to or from the vehicle drive wheels. The two electric machines are interconnected electronically via a power control unit and are coupled respectively with members of the planetary train. The method of power management in the eVT is selected based on the current speed and torque of the input and drive shafts, and upon the desired operating parameters.

摘要: Substantially pure, free flowing, sodium amalgam particles of predetermined composition and controlled particle size are prepared for use as vaporizable fill for high pressure discharge lamp devices, whereby accurately measurable quantities of the sodium amalgam may be introduced into the lamp devices. A process for producing the substantially pure amalgam particles of accurately controlled size includes heating a mixture of sodium and mercury to form a melt, passing the melt through a vibrating discharge nozzle and subjecting the droplets so formed to an inert cooling fluid maintained at a temperature below the solidification point of the amalgam. An apparatus for producing the amalgam particles comprises a vessel to contain an alkali metal amalgam melt, a vibrating discharge nozzle adapted to form the melt into uniformly sized droplets, and a column of inert cooling fluid maintained at a low temperature at which the melt droplets are solidified.

摘要: An improvement is disclosed in a process for the manufacture of metal halide particles containing at least one lanthanide metal halide in which the metal halide is melted and passed through a discharge conduit into an inert, quenching atmosphere. The improvement comprises adding a minor amount of hydrogen halide (the halide radical of the lanthanide metal halide and of the hydrogen halide being of the same halogen species) to the molten lanthanide metal halide to promote wetting of the molten lanthanide metal salt on the discharge conduit. The resulting particles show excellent uniformity of particle size and size distribution.

摘要: Apparatus for producing purified metal halides, such as sodium iodide and mixtures of sodium iodide and mixtures of sodium iodide with scandium iodide, of accurately controlled particle size, particularly useful as a vaporizable fill for high pressure discharge devices. The apparatus may include means for evaporating volatiles from the solid impure metal halide, melting the impure halide, passing hydrogen, hydrogen halide, hydrogen and halogen, or mixtures thereof through the halide, and then passing the molten halide through a vibrating discharge conduit or nozzle into an inert quenching atmosphere to form the particles of purified halide.

摘要: A shapeable tablet and cell phone holding device is disclosed herein. The purpose of the shapeable tablet and cell phone holding device is to support any object or device, especially a smart phone or tablet, against a surface or another object. The device functions by being infinitely formable, allowing a user to conform the shapeable tablet and cell phone holding device to the held object and the supporting surface. The composition of the device is such that it will rigidly maintain the shape given to it while holding the object, though can also be returned to a flat or folded orientation for storage or carrying. The device can support smart devices of any thickness and size, and can be folded and held at any orientation and angle to maximize versatility. The outer cover may be made of high-quality silicone and have an inner metallic core that allows securely positioning of a smart device as required by a user.

摘要: A method and system related to container identification through an electrical receptacle and plug associated with the container of an intermodal freight transport system is disclosed. According to one embodiment, a method includes coupling an electrical power plug of a container and an electrical power receptacle of a transport vehicle. Also, the method includes activating a tracking device of the container through a switch and actuator coupling. Further, the method includes verifying an identity of the container upon coupling the electrical power plug to the electrical power receptacle through an identification tag of the container and an electronic reader. Furthermore, the method may include conserving battery power through deactivating the tracking device of the container when the electrical power plug is de-coupled to the electrical power receptacle. The method may also include delivering an alert message to a driver when an incorrect container is identified.

摘要: A pipe cutter for cutting a pipe includes a cutting head assembly having a first carriage and a second carriage spaced apart to define a cutting area. The first carriage supports a cutting mechanism, and the second carriage is configured to support a pipe within the cutting area. The carriages have a locked state and an unlocked state such that when the carriages are in the unlocked state, the carriages are movable relative to each other and biased into the cutting area. The pipe cutter also includes a drive assembly configured to rotate the cutting head assembly and a locking mechanism configured for changing the carriages from the unlocked state to the locked state and for holding the carriages in the locked state. The locking mechanism includes an actuation member rotatably coupled to the first carriage.
