    摘要: There is a journal area and one or more logical volumes comprising a first logical volume. The journal area is a storage area in which is stored a journal data element, which is a data element that is stored in any storage area of a plurality of storage areas configuring a logical volume, or a data element that is written to the storage area. A controller has a size receiver that receives a write unit size, which is the size of a write data element received from a computer, and a size setting unit that sets the received write unit size in a memory for one or more logical volumes. The size of a journal data element stored in a journal area based on the set write unit size is the write unit size.

    摘要: A stator includes a stator core and a distributed winding type multi-phase coil. This coil includes unit coils made by winding a flat conductor wire in plural turns. The unit coils are mounted in slots of the stator core and connected with each other. Each unit coil includes an outer-layer coil and an inner-layer coil each being concentrically wound. Those two layer coils are made of a single continuous flat conductor wire. A winding start portion of the outer-layer coil and a winding end portion of the inner-layer coil form first and second connection end portions of the unit coil respectively. The first and second connection end portions are located separately on both edges of the unit coil above an upper end face of the stator core. The first connection end portion is placed close to an inner circumference of the stator core and the second connection end portion is placed close to an outer circumference of the stator core. The first connection end portions of the adjacent unit coils constituting the same phase are connected with each other. The second connection end portions of the adjacent unit coils constituting the same phase are connected with each other.

    摘要: Data of a global file system spread over multiple local NAS systems may be consolidated as a copy into a single remote NAS system. When remote copy is set up, the local NAS systems replace referrals within the global file system with directories and send these in place of the referrals to the remote NAS system. Then, other local NAS systems referred to by the referrals send files and directories under the directories replacing the referrals on the remote NAS system. Alternatively, to split copy data of a locally-stored global file system amongst multiple remote NAS systems, the local NAS system replaces specified directories with referrals, and sends the referrals with the data to one of the remote NAS systems. Then, the local NAS system sends files and directories under the directories replaced with referrals to one or more other remote NAS systems as referred to by the referrals.

    摘要: An apparatus, system, and method enable access to a storage system by distinguishing SCSI Object-Based Storage Device Commands (OSD) commands from block-based SCSI commands on the same port and storage subsystem. The storage subsystem has the capability of identifying the storage protocol from a corresponding command, and processes the command accordingly for a storage device formatted for use with the respective storage protocol. This way, a storage subsystem can consolidate data from several dedicated command ports to a single physical port, while also enabling a single storage system to store and provide access to data in multiple different storage protocol formats.

    摘要: A computer system which has a plurality of computers and a storage device subsystem connected to the plurality of computers. The storage device subsystem has a plurality of storage devices and a plurality of interfaces, through which the subsystem is connected to the computers. One of the plurality of computers has a management means for holding therein data indicative of the storage devices and a connection relationship between the computers and storage device subsystem. Each computer, when wanting a new device, informs the management means of its capacity and type. The management means receives its notification and selects one of the storage devices which satisfies the request. And the management means instructs the storage device subsystem to set predetermined data in such a manner that the computer can access the selected device. The management means also returns predetermined data to the computer as a device assignment requester, the assignment requester computer modifies setting thereof to allow the computer in question can use the assigned device.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for a storage system for storing data on an object basis, where the object has attribute information and data. The storage system has a plurality of (N) data storage devices and at least one redundant data storage device. When the storage system receives a write request with an object, the object is divided into N sub-objects each of which have the same size. Thereafter, each of the N sub-objects is written to the data storage devices. Further, the parity is calculated from each of the sub-objects. In one embodiment the parity is stored in a redundant data storage device.
