Flexible dielectric strips and dielectric cylindrical bodies are implemented with conductive elements in various patterns to form Faraday shield structures. The shields provide an extended conductive surface to the instrument support member and redirect axial currents along the borehole, protecting the underlying antennas from the undesired effects of these currents.

    摘要: Systems and methods use enhanced flow control devices that can be selectively closed completely or have its effective flow area reduced to restrict production (or injection) by use of a chemical trigger mechanism. In addition, some of the systems deploy specific targeted chemical tracers, dissolvable in the unwanted production fluid (e.g., water or gas). These chemical tracers once dissolved will enter the production stream and be identified at the surface. An appropriate chemical trigger can be placed, for example, by pumping down through the tubing and utilizing intelligent completion valve to place the chemical, or by spotting with coiled tubing and bullhead to the formation. The chemical trigger will only trigger the active chemical in the appropriate flow control device.

The battery may include separate anode and cathode fluid tanks which may be refilled at various times throughout the life of the well. Upon coupling of a replenishment tool to the battery, it may be fully replenished in a matter of minutes. Further, the nature of the fluid tanks allows for decreased battery bulk in even as increase power and life are afforded due to overall tank volume. Thus, with minimal total intervention time, extended life and replenishable character may be achieved for a battery well suited for use in downhole environments.

    摘要: A well logging tool apparatus is disclosed for conducting measurements in a borehole environment surrounding a borehole that traverses a subsurface formation. The apparatus includes an elongated conductive mandrel having a longitudinal axis, an antenna array positioned about the mandrel and including a transmitter for transmitting electromagnetic energy into the formation, and a sleeve positioned about the antenna array. The apparatus further includes a first set of electrodes and a second set of electrodes. Each electrode has an outer end that is exposed on the outer surface of the sleeve for conductive contact with an adjacent conductive borehole environment. Further, the first and second sets of electrodes are spaced longitudinally apart such that the transmitter is positioned longitudinally therebetween. Electrodes of the first and second sets are conductively interconnected with the mandrel such that when the well logging apparatus is operated in a borehole environment having borehole currents therein, one or more current path loops are provided for shorting borehole currents.
