摘要: Systems and methods for generating and a controller for controlling generation of geothermal power in an organic Rankine cycle (ORC) operation in the vicinity of a wellhead during hydrocarbon production to thereby supply electrical power to one or more of in-field operational equipment, a grid power structure, and an energy storage device. In an embodiment, during hydrocarbon production, a temperature of a flow of wellhead fluid from the wellhead or working fluid may be determined. If the temperature is above a vaporous phase change threshold of the working fluid, heat exchanger valves may be opened to divert flow of wellhead fluid to heat exchangers to facilitate heat transfer from the flow of wellhead fluid to working fluid through the heat exchangers, thereby to cause the working fluid to change from a liquid to vapor, the vapor to cause a generator to generate electrical power via rotation of an expander.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to a rotary steerable tool operable to steer a drill bit for drilling a wellbore. In some embodiments, the rotary steerable tool is operable in an acknowledgment mode to confirm receipt of a downlink transmission by performing a detectable acknowledgement action that continues to rotate the drill bit, but temporarily suspends the steering of the drill bit for a period of time by maintaining the valve motor in a stationary rotational position relative to the valve.

摘要: During rotation of a shaft of a downhole-type wellbore system, a first signal corresponding to an axial position of the rotating shaft is transmitted by a sensor. The shaft is axially levitated by a plurality of magnetic thrust bearings. A controller determines an amount of axial force to apply to the rotating shaft to maintain axial levitation of the rotating shaft based on the first signal. The controller transmits a second signal corresponding to the determined amount of axial force to the plurality of magnetic thrust bearings. The plurality of magnetic thrust bearings applies the amount of axial force on the rotating shaft to maintain the axial levitation of the rotating shaft based on the second signal.

摘要: A system includes an electric submersible pump (ESP) assembly configured to transport a fluid in a casing string of a well to a surface location. The ESP includes a pump configured to receive, upon activation, the fluid through a pump intake and vent the fluid through a pump discharge; an output shaft extending downhole from and fixed to the pump; and a control valve assembly. The control valve assembly includes a movable core of an electromagnet movable along a central axis of the system; a generator in electrical communication with the electromagnet, configured to generate electrical power to pull the movable core in an uphole direction upon activation of the pump of the electric submersible pump assembly; a shaft coupler coupling a generator input shaft and the output shaft; and a stinger having a conduit for the fluid to flow from the tubing string to the pump intake. The stinger includes at least one intake slot configured to receive the fluid; and an exit configured to vent the fluid to the pump intake of the electric submersible pump assembly. The control valve assembly also includes a flow tube connected to the movable core, the flow tube comprising an exterior surface creating fluid communication between the flow tube and the stinger before, when, or after the exterior surface uncovers the at least one intake slot of the stinger. The ESP also includes a spring configured to slide the movable core upon deactivation of the pump of the electric submersible pump assembly.

During a drilling operation, heat generated by drilling fluid flowing from a borehole, exhaust from an engine, and/or fluid from an engine's water (or other fluid) jacket, for example, may be utilized by corresponding heat exchangers to facilitate heat transfer to a working fluid. The heated working fluid may cause an ORC unit to generate electrical power.
