Abstract: A vehicular backup assist system includes an ultrasonic sensor disposed at a trailer hitch that is configured to be attached at a rear portion of the vehicle. A control includes a processor for processing sensor data captured by the ultrasonic sensor. The control, with the trailer hitch attached at the vehicle, and during a reversing maneuver of the vehicle, and responsive to processing of sensor data captured by the ultrasonic sensor, detects presence of an object rearward of the vehicle and in the vicinity of the trailer hitch. Responsive to detecting presence of the object, the control alerts a driver of the vehicle of the detection.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer guidance system includes an electronic control unit (ECU), a plurality of vehicle cameras and at least one trailer camera including a rear trailer camera disposed at a rear portion of a trailer hitched to the vehicle. A display screen is disposed in the vehicle and viewable by a driver of the vehicle. The display screen displays video images derived from captured image data, with the displayed video images including bird's-eye view images of a region at least partially surrounding the vehicle and trailer including an area rearward of the trailer hitched to the vehicle. During a reversing maneuver, and via processing of captured image data, an instruction for maneuvering the vehicle and trailer in reverse toward a target location is generated by the ECU. The generated instruction includes at least an instruction pertaining to steering of the vehicle during the reversing maneuver.

Abstract: A trailering assist system for a vehicle includes a camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle and having a field of view rearward of the vehicle, the field of view encompassing at least a portion of a trailer rearward of the vehicle. The camera captures image data, which is representative of at least a front profile of the trailer, which includes a trailer coupler of the trailer. An ECU includes an image processor that processes image data captured by the camera. The ECU, responsive to image processing of captured image data, determines a location of the front profile of the trailer relative to the vehicle. Responsive to determining the location of the front profile, the ECU determines a plurality of outline landmarks that represent a shape of the front profile of the trailer. Based on the determined outline landmarks, the ECU determines a location of the trailer coupler.

Abstract: A method of detecting a trailer angle of a trailer being towed by a vehicle includes capturing frames of image data via a camera of the vehicle while the vehicle is towing a trailer, and, via processing by an image processor of frames of captured image data while the vehicle is towing the trailer, determining presence of the trailer being towed by the vehicle, and determining feature vectors of the trailer being towed by the vehicle. The feature vectors of the trailer are determined by determining features that have similar angular changes between a current frame of captured image data and a previous frame of captured image data. The angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle is determined responsive to tracking of determined feature vectors of the trailer present in the field of view of the camera over multiple frames of captured image data.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer assist system includes a camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing at least a portion of a trailer hitched to the vehicle. The system, during a first turning maneuver of a calibration maneuver of the vehicle and trailer, stores a subset of the frames of image data captured by the camera. Each stored frame of the stored subset of the frames captures the trailer at a respective different trailer angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle. The system determines image data edges for each stored frame of image data. The system, after performing the first turning maneuver of the calibration maneuver and during a second turning maneuver of the calibration maneuver, and based at least in part on the determined image data edges for the stored frames of image data, determines a jack-knife angle of the trailer relative to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular trailering assist system includes a rear backup camera disposed at a vehicle and viewing at least rearward of the vehicle and at least a portion of a trailer hitched to the vehicle. The camera captures frames of image data that include image data representative of at least a portion of the trailer hitched to the vehicle. Frames of image data captured by the camera are processed at an electronic control unit during a calibration maneuver by the vehicle to determine a trailer collision angle. The vehicular trailering assist system, after completion of the calibration maneuver, determines a current trailer angle of the trailer relative to a longitudinal axis of the vehicle as the vehicle is driven along the road. The vehicular trailering assist system determines whether the current trailer angle is within a threshold amount of the determined trailer collision angle.

Abstract: A vehicular parking assist system includes a plurality of sensors disposed at a vehicle and sensing exterior of the vehicle. The vehicular parking assist system, via processing of captured sensor data, and while the vehicle is conducting a parking maneuver, detects an object and tracks location of the detected object relative to the vehicle until the detected object leaves a field of sensing of the at least one sensor of the plurality of sensors. The system, after the detected object leaves the field of sensing of the at least one sensor, predicts location of the detected object relative to the vehicle. The system, upon completion of the parking maneuver, determines that the detected object is hazardous based on the predicted location of the detected object relative to the vehicle, and responsive to determining that the detected object is hazardous, restricts opening of a door of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicular trailer angle detection system includes a camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle. The vehicular trailer angle detection system, via processing of frames of image data captured by the camera, tracks changes of features present in a current frame of captured image data and present in a previous frame of captured image data and determines features of the trailer based on the tracked changes of features. The determined features of the trailer have respective changes between the current frame of image data captured by the camera and the previous frame of image data captured by the camera. The vehicular trailer angle detection system determines angle of the trailer relative to the vehicle based at least in part on tracking of the determined features of the trailer over multiple captured frames of image data.

Abstract: A vehicular alert system includes at least one sensor disposed at a vehicle and sensing exterior of the vehicle. The at least one sensor captures sensor data. Electronic circuitry of an electronic control unit includes a processor for processing sensor data captured by the at least one sensor to detect presence of objects viewed by the at least one sensor. The vehicular alert system, responsive to determining a likelihood that the vehicle is parking, tracks a position of a detected object until the object leaves a field of sensing of the sensor. The vehicular alert system predicts a position of the object relative to the vehicle and determines the object is a hazard based on the predicted position. The vehicular alert system, responsive to determining that the detected object is a hazard, alerts an occupant of the vehicle of the detected object.
