摘要： A system and method for displaying traffic information in an automotive navigation system having a display, memory and a data receiver. The method includes the first step of storing in a traffic speed table in memory at least two speed threshold limits wherein each speed threshold limit represents a different traffic flow category. The receiver receives data representative of the vehicle speed on at least one road segment and compares that received vehicle speed data with the traffic speed table to determine the traffic flow category corresponding to the received speed data for the road segment. A visual indicator is then displayed on the display which corresponds to the traffic flow category for the road segment. The user is able to customize the speed threshold limits through a GUI. These speed threshold limits are further user modifiable as a function of weather, day of the week, road conditions, type of road, as well as other factors.

摘要： An adaptive information display apparatus is provided for simultaneously displaying a plurality of kinds of display information on a display screen in an optimal display form. The information display apparatus includes a work processing unit for executing a plurality of kinds of work processing based on each of data inputted from a sensor input unit and a character/coordinate input unit and outputting the results of the work processing, and a display unit for displaying the results of the plurality of kinds of work processing outputted from the work processing unit. The information display apparatus further includes a display form detector unit detecting display form data for the display unit, an arrangement rule storage unit storing an arrangement rule defining display forms corresponding to each of the plurality of kinds of work processing, and a display arrangement control unit comparing the display form data and the arrangement rule for each work to output a predetermined display arrangement instruction. The work processing unit outputs the results of each of the plurality of kinds of work processing to the display unit in a predetermined display form in accordance with the display arrangement instruction.

摘要： A method for collecting and processing information from a vehicle is disclosed. The information is useful for providing a loss-insurance coverage. The method includes the following steps: (a) Information is automatically transmitted from the vehicle to a central vehicle-information management center, the information including information regarding a position of the vehicle, information regarding control of the vehicle, information regarding states of parts of the vehicle, a type of the vehicle, and identification of a user of the vehicle. (b) The central vehicle-information management center computes a utilization service fee based on the type of the vehicle and the identification of the user transmitted in step (a). (c) The central vehicle-information management center transmits the computed fee and a request for confirmation to the vehicle. (d) The vehicle transmits a response to the central vehicle-information management center as to whether the user will effect insurance coverage.

摘要： A method o gathering and analyzing vehicle information is disclosed. A central vehicle-information management center gathers first vehicle information gathered in real time, including position of the vehicle, control of vehicle, and conditions of vehicle parts, and gathers second vehicle information including vehicle type, vehicle identification number, and information regarding users of the vehicles. The central vehicle information management center performs a statistical analysis for the plurality of vehicles based on the first and second information. The first information is transmitted by a transmitter provided on each vehicle, and acquired via a satellite communication system and/or a land-based wireless communication system.
