Abstract:
According to some embodiments, a light bulb may include a base adapted to be coupled to a power socket, lighting circuitry supporting at least one lighting element to provide illumination, a communication element to exchange information with at least one remote device, and a receiving portion. An extendable sensor mount may include a first end attached to be attached to the receiving portion of the light bulb and a second end, opposite the first end, extendable with respect to the light bulb. A sensor may be coupled to the second end of the extendable sensor mount, and data collected by the sensor may be transmitted to the at least one remote device via the communication element of the light bulb.

Abstract:
A system for providing an open-ended subscription to commodity items normally available on a term basis includes a central agent that serves as the front-end for commodity suppliers. This central agent maintains databases containing information associated with a group of commodity items and their sales. Using these databases, the central agent produces subscription records to provide open-ended subscription services to its customers, while supporting the term-based subscriptions of the commodity suppliers.
Abstract:
There are provided methods (200) and systems (100) for simulating sports activities. Historical data is aggregated to develop realistic, simulated, fictional players and teams (206, 208). The aggregation of data is sufficient to avoid any discrete identification of a simulated player, team, league or other participant with a real-life equivalent. The historical data collected is sufficient in quantity and type that simulated sports events can be realistically performed in substantially unlimited scope and quantity. Degrees of randomness may be introduced (510) to provide excitement and unpredictability. Non-random variations to the historically based activities can be made (512) so as to alter the fundamental nature of a player, team or league. Outcomes of the simulation can be generated substantially indefinitely to provide long-term entertainment, for example full seasons and multiple seasons/years of sports activities. The simulated sports activities of the present invention can be presented to fans in lieu of live sports events (522). Mediums of presentation (600) can include, for example, live video displays, television transmissions, radio transmissions and real-time display to stadium fans.
Abstract:
An improved credit card billing method and system is disclosed which permits multiple items purchased as part of a single transaction or order to be separately billed on a credit card in accordance with a payment schedule designed to minimize inquiries regarding the overall order by the customer. The billing system permits the billing descriptor appearing on the credit card billing statement to have sufficient detail to minimize subsequent customer inquiries. The billing descriptor preferably includes a different customer service number for each individual item. Goods or services are purchased from a merchant in a conventional manner. The customer provides the merchant with a list of the multiple items included in the order, as well as credit card information. The merchant will preferably establish a staggered schedule for billing each individual item in the order and submit the charge requests to the credit card issuer in accordance with the established billing schedule.
